9/24 — 33.4
9/27 — 7.4
MTD — 264.0
Just as I was leaving for my ride at 5:30 am, I noticed my front brake cable slipping in a major way. I tried to fix it quickly, but the cable ended up fraying beyond recognition. So I ended up replacing my brake cable; a bit of a job since the brakes are canti brake set I installed recently. At any rate, I was only able to get in 7 miles, which was a bit of a disappointment.

6 commuting miles so far.
Supposed to do close to a century to Brooklyn on Sunday, but Hermine might force me to cut that short.
Got a tour planned starting next weekend from Brattleboro, VT to Philly. Should be at about 400 loaded miles.

I'll give 400 a go in the fine month of September. I plan to ride as often as in August; in addition the weather should be cooling down a bit.

I'm finally able to take time off this month. It's been over 3 months since I've been able to take a whole day off so September will be a busy one. I have work travel as well and pleasure trips planned, those will take away from my bike time though. Goal is 150 miles this month.

Summer's coming to an end, and since I don't really like riding in the heat/humidity I'm hoping my riding picks up compared to the last few months. However, with my daughter starting school next Wednesday and what is predicted to be a busy work week as is(expecting at least 80 hours this week alone), I'm not sure how successful I'll be. Planning a 50 mile rail trail ride on the 25th and would like to try riding a close to 100 mile loop I mapped out months ago sometime this month.
That said, 300 miles is my goal for September.

My goal is 300 this month as well. August mileage was 244, but that was with a lot of short neighborhood rides before I was comfortable heading out into the local countryside.

A nice easy gravel ride today for 13 miles. Adding in commutes from the first couple days of the month gets me to 73 miles so far.

Since I have hardly been riding over the last few months, 100 mins seems like an awesome goal.
I am doing an organized ride in October. It is shorter than I signed up for, started at 18 and the route change makes it 13. But I have a goal to do 25 straight by the time the ride happens. Than I know I'll have fresh enough legs for the 6 mile round trip to get to the ride.
For reference, I am mostly a transportation cyclist. I ride with a legit destination in mind. It is a mind shift to ride with no destination, but this fall is going to be stressful so it is a good time to start!
9/1: 2.5 miles - I got to bike commute today (it is no longer my commute to the train unless I am out late or have a meeting)
9/2: 3 miles - wanted to check out the new LBS.
9/3: 8 miles - my training plan aimed for long rides on Saturdays, but I switched it up this week. But my planned route failed and the ride was shorter.
9/4: 15.7 miles
Today I did so,edging new. I wanted to ride ~10 miles straight. My plan for the day was to ride to the train station, pick up snacks, take the 15 minute train ride to the next county for their MUP, ride 10 miles, take the train home. The MUP was conveniently on route to the mall and I needed to grab a birthday gift. I have only ridden a mile or two on the trail when I did a bike test ride.
Ride report: good! This MUP is mostly flat. I headed south 6 miles, and planned to turn around and do the 4 back to the mall. I lost the trail for a bit (bad signage) and ended up on the main road. It had a bike lane, minimal traffic but fast moving. It is also roadie land on that stretch of the main road. I got passed by lots or road bike peeps.
This was a new step fo me, I generally ride in my city it the neighboring one. My backup plan for mechanical issues are the bus, train, or bike shop. I am never too far from one of those option. In the 'burbs where I went, the bus rarely runs, I was out of striking distance for the bus /train. And I don't know any shops!
When I got to my turnaround spot, I needed to use the facilities. It was at a strip mall. I had my banana, ate the samples at the farmers market and did a quick stop at the drug store for vitamins. Then back on the trail - I found it again.
I stopped at the mall for lunch and shopping. I planned to go to the closer train station, but the trail was so enjoyable I pedaled to the one I started at. Then headed home.
My legs were a bit tired so I didn't do errands at the futprther away train, and hopped off at the one closer to home. The ride home is up a gradual hill. I walked the last block, but that is typical. I just started cycling up the last block in the past two weeks. It is a fairly steep incline, and I don't like to get home feeling hot and out of breath. So I often walk it, but it is getting easier and soon enough I won't even notice the hill.
But today, my legs didn't have extra power.
And today marks my second longest day in the saddle ever. Next week I am aiming for a longer ride. If the weather cooperates I might do that MUP again. It goes in total 40 miles give or take, so it is a good goal. There are two train stations right on the route. From direct train station to train station it is about 25 miles - so that's my goal for October.
September's tally is 29.2

Hi.
I'm in for 250 miles in September.
9/2 26.4 miles
9/3 24.1 miles
9/5 35.4 miles
85.9/250 completed.
Planning a few shorter rides through this week, then tackling (hopefully) a 45-50 miler next weekend. I've never gone that far, and honestly was pretty tired at the end of Monday's ride...
