ran 5k on the trail, dirt was nice n soft. Water level is really high down at the lake. Still quite a few fishing boats in the muck of the storm run off.

If Satan had an official sport, it'd be running.

I have an annual fitness test at work which includes a 1.5 mile run. I plan to walk it, while reading the paper, for my last test before retirement.

You sound like a Navy man. The chiefs on my boat used to stop halfway and smoke a cigarette, just to prove they could.

That pizza looks good - we made a cauliflower pizza the other week and it was awesome. Somebody recently revealed to me a thing called a "Fat Head Pizza" which looks even awesomer.

I've been looking at those smart trainers but lack the justification to fund that. I keep telling myself to get outside and ride and use those new wheels I got.

BUT the days's I don't get to ride out side, seems like 2-3 days a week. I'm on the trainer. It's becoming regular enough where the kiddos aren't trying to get on the bike with me. My oldest always wants to sit on the handle bars and lil dude feels left out....

I do like the rock n roll smart kinetic, I like that I'd be able to sprint out of the saddle and the bike will move w/ me

Rock and road looks nice but they have their own stupid proprietary communication method, which is both stupid and proprietary. EVERYBODY else uses ANT+, Blutooth LE or the new ANT protocol, I forget what it is called.

I'm hoping to accomplish two things - 1) riding at night when my kids don't have some sort of practice (i hate riding where I live at night) and 2) introducing some training structure.

And here we see another poor soul lost to video game cycling. This is made even more tragic by the fact that he lives in Southern California, where we only have 365 cycle-able days a year, if you don't mind getting a little bit of water on you. Somewhere, a guy is sitting in his den, and now with the image of another SoCal Zwifter in his head, he glances at the four feet of snow outside his window, and shakes his head in a sort of sad, wistful way.

My sister-in-law rides a Peloton about once a week. Like being in a spin class, alone, in your own living room.

I loathe riding on a trainer, an hour goes by in like forever, and even DVR'd TV shows don't help. OTOH when outdoors, even doing hill repeats I lose track of time.

That said, I've done a lot of trainer, rollers, Erg time the last few months with the Torture Clinics. It is a lot more fun in a group setting with White Wedding blasting from the stereo and people to talk to. And in terms of workout units per minute or hour, it is very efficient.

If a trainer and video system is what it takes, then go for it!

baked beans, hot dogs, and one small pancake after my ride:

Not dead yet Went outside for 13.7 miles today. temp was just under 50 degrees with low wind (up to 10mph) https://www.strava.com/activities/887885884/overview I was a bit slower than I used to be, but that is to be expected for the first time riding in a couple months.

The bike fit paid off with me not feeling like I was putting out the same effort for speed and distance that I used to.

Heart rate was a bit higher than I wanted, but that also was to be expected, and it will come down the more I ride.

I did have to turn around after the first few blocks and go back home as the shield for my eyes (I ride a Giro Air Attack with shield helmet) had a split down the middle; so I grabbed my spare and started out again.

Now to roll on the floor using the roller, and get ready for riding tomorrow

The three things i learned this afternoon:

1. I have resting heart rate of 49.
2. Punch something hard enough, and you can be rewarded with a Boxer's Fracture (complete break of the fifth metacarpal with angulation) and a big ol' cast for six weeks.
3. Stupidity can indeed be painful. Very, very painful.

As to number 2 in your post I learned that at 16... broke the right ring finger in the middle of my hand and dislocated the pinky.... My hand looked like a foot.

1/2 cast for six weeks with three pins for the first three weeks. Oh and a month after getting out of that cast I broke my right wrist in a cycling accident as I was riding the wrong way in the bus lane in front of the high school and had a head on with an old Scout II.

Good luck in your healing.

did you tell your doc to make the cut away so you can still shift your bike levers?

Osaki dual head massager from Costco... best investment ever... the bottom of my feet had a couple knots this morning and from my heel to halfway up my calves there was some tenderness from yesterday's ride (yes I let myself get a tad out of riding condition since November). Ran that over my feet, calves, neck and back and now feel like a new man... oh and going riding in a few minutes too.
