recommend flat pedals

The original pedals on my trek disintegrated in the 1st 1000km.

The replacements were whatever the LBS had off the shelf and they are soon to disintegrate too.

I am heavy, strong and like to stand up to accelerate in stop start traffic.

Anybody got a recommendation from experience?

What's your budget?

I like the DMR V12s - $55-$65, but that's only on choice among many at that price, and that's only one of many price ranges.

Race Face Chesters - if you like pins. Fantastic pedals.

Thanks for the replies, I am going to stay with flat pedals in the short term. I power past the clipless guys off the traffic lights so that suits me at the moment. Maybe in the next 6 months I will try clipless.

Going back to the question above I guess anywhere up to $60-70 is ok if I get a bit of life out of them. I will see which of the suggestions above I can find locally.

I bought a set of these last month, and so far my feet have been glued to the pedals on every ride. I luv 'em.

Wellgo MG-3 are very sturdy, and can be had for under $25 from eBay, shipped from China. It takes a bunch of weeks, you can keep working on your current pedals in the meantime. I ordered myself a second pair on Jul 23, estimated delivery window is Aug 2-22.

MG-1 is very similar, but a little less beefy I think.

Result

After much deliberation I went with MKS touring for a number of reasons.

Rebuilding looks to be relatively easy, I like that.

I got a good deal on the leather straps too so that gives me the chance to see if I like being clipped in without going full clipless. If I don't like the leather I can take it off really easily.

I'll try a set of the ones with the pins in due course, they all look great.
