Website says the brakes are Tektro R539 dual pivot medium reach. They should have good stopping power, IDK, I don't have those on any of my bikes. My caliper brakes are good enough to lock up the front and rear, it even lifts the rear wheel off the ground. Kool stops should help.

there shouldn't be a compatibility issue since he is changing the brake caliper, the compatibility issues are from the cable pull on the 10 speed vs 11 speed shifting. Also the 105's are br-5800 for the current model. BR-6800 are the Ultegra brakes. I'm not sure of the color changes between the BR-5700 and BR-5800, there might be a difference there.

There probably isn't but Shimano has changed the brake pull ratio recently and I'd hate to tell somebody "yeah, it's OK" if it isn't
