I've never regretted going for a ride or going to the gym. There's a saying about you'll regret the things you don't do. Sometimes you just have to make yourself start. I worked 13 hours yesterday and didn't feel like doing anything after except laying on the couch. But I dragged my bike out to the trail and went a couple of miles, got rained on, and headed back. Only did 6 miles but I'm glad I did.
I have a rule. I normally don't work crazy hours, I do work early but I to work out before work. If I'm actually still tired and could easily fall back asleep when my alarm goes off, I go back to sleep. Until it's time to get ready for work. But if I'm just going to lay there and snooze I make myself get up and do something.

Long ago I figured out I'm a destination rider ... so ride to work, ride to market, etc. Last October I got rid of my car (we kept my wife's, so I do drive from time to time ;>) ... nothing as motivating as having no other choice ;>

But when I'm riding somewhere with a destination in mind, I have hardly any route boredom.

I think I've entered the woosh phase of weightloss. So I can't wait until Saturday when I can ride the next time...
Change your diet for a few days and get on the scale, maybe that will motivate you, it worked for me.

I feel the same. I am having difficulty with motivation to go out and ride.
Here's my problem. This July I rode my first trip, 5 days to DC for a veteran benefit ride. Loved it so much that 2 weeks later I rode across NY on the Erie Canal trail for 7 days. Touring for a week was so awesome, I no longer care to get on the bike and ride alone after work for 15 or 20 miles.
It's funny. 4 years ago I was driving 5 miles to the start of the Allegheny River trail almost every day and riding 12 or 15 miles. During a discussion back then on milestones (the first 25, 50, metric century, century) and I said I'll probably never ride more than 25 miles nor do I care to ride more than 25 miles. Then I sit today about 4 years later living somewhere else, I am contemplating on Saturday riding the 34 miles out to Emlenton and the start of the ART, taking some food with me, build a little campfire at one of the camping spots and cook lunch, then ride the 34 miles back.

personally, I enjoy riding, it is fun for me. When I'm in a funk I just have to go through the motions, no thought, and get on the bike. I have not regretted it yet. I also got the Charity miles app. every bike mile is $0.10 on the bike, helps get me going some days, even if it is just 7 miles like today.

I use bike races on DVD, YouTube videos, magazines, and forums. They all make me want to ride.
