Kat, slow and steady is the best. ;) You'll be more apt to keep it off because you will have made a change in how you live your life rather than just "dieting". ;)

1+ Tom !!
While all of our bodies respond faster or slower to exercising and diet. If you Burn more than you take in, you will loose fat. You may already know this :) but what helped me was not paying attention to much to my actual weight, initially it can be a mental block depending on your current muscle mass ..as you start you'll be building alot of muscle to match the new physical request and it may throw off what you think you should be losing in weight. I mentally made it about getting active instead of losing weight and like tom said sure enough it started happening. Keep it up everyone!! Winter can't stop the clyde/athena rebellion :) |

My legs, just from 3 weeks of riding are getting all beefy and muscle-y. My waist has dropped about 3 inches! I'm pretty happy :D Here are my face before and afters, The first one is at 260 and the second is at 233. Now I'm 243 so you can just meld the two together and figure out what I look like now. ^^ |

Damn ChunkyD, you wear 350 pretty good. I would guess you were more around 280-300 in that last pic. I'm a bad judge of height maybe?

No pics this week...two weeks and I'll post new ones, I am jut THAT close to my initial goal weight of 200#, down to 204# this week the trainer and the treadmill have been good to me. Now I just have to find a pool I can use so I can train for a tri-sprint in the spring.
|
YMCA? They usually have a decent pool.
|
And a hefty membership fee...my current gym is about 29$ a month with no initiation fee...the school I teach at has a pool, I'd probably just have to get in early. I think there may be some others who workout there in the AM.

All I can say is WOW!
What an inspiring post. I had to log in just to tell you guys how awesome and inspiring this is. I'm a recent lurker of bikeforums and have been biking around for the last two-three weeks. I'm 5'3", roughly 160lbs, and this is the biggest I have been my entire life. I've only recently gained all this weight (last 3-4 years) so hopefully, I'll have some AFTER pictures for you all. |
In 2004, around 550 pounds:
http://bp1.blogger.com/_ysiJFvX1F0E/...00/thatguy.jpg Last week, 360 and some . change :) http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2114/...e7f709.jpg?v=0 |
I suppose I'll add mine here. The first one is me at 240 (down 10 from 250)
http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/c...t/100_1040.jpg this is me at 179!! http://i213.photobucket.com/albums/c...t/100_1373.jpg I actually got down to 173 for a while and then back up to 182 within a week of my Grandma passing. that was a few weeks ago so I'm getting back on track. School has cut down my commuting to work (working less) and my pleasure rides (too much studying). I might have to bring out grandpa's Schwinn Air-Dyne and mount a book holder on it so I can ride and study at the same time. |
Well since Im new to the forums Ill throw my pics up. So here goes. Im a young clyde. I played Football in High School as well as on the Swim team. Needless to say I was alot healthier then. Then in January of 2007 I took a serious look at my health. I decided to take cycling to improve my health and loose weight the healthy way, not the crash diet I did that ultimately forced me to have to leave my dream of being in the police academy. (I went from 275 to 240 in 1 1/2 weeks from not eating, while still running and sprinting in the academy) So I was back to 275 (unhealthily at that weight) and started cycling.
I dont have any pics of me at my starting weight of 275 because I was very unhappy with myself. However I do have ones of me from the Long Beach Marathon Bike Tour just a month ago at a healthy 245. Im wearing my shop's kit in white http://img513.imageshack.us/img513/9...atstartsp0.jpg |
