That is amazing you look like two different people! How long did it take to drop that much weight?

I'd like to know as well, since his starting weight was the same as mine.

Huh, it took me from January 2006 to now to lose 142. I'm not worthy! I'm not worthy!

My weightloss has been since xmas or so, but I have slowed down the past 2 months. Just now getting into cycling to pick back up the loss... I would like to be 170 or so. You guys have lost some amazing weight! I know how hard it is, and you all have worked amazingly hard... congrats!

The photo was taken in Mexico at a place called Real De Catorce in San Luis Potosi. Neat place...you go through a mile long tunnel to get to the town. Elevation is about 8,000 feet. My friends and I ride dual sport, (on-road/off-road,) motorcycles all over Mexico. More photos:

The before and after pictures here are really motivating. I've been yo-yoing between 93 kg & 99 kg for the past 9 months. Maybe I need to cycle more.

This is great motivation. I was 300 about 4 years ago, got down to 240 but have slipped back up to 287. Funny thing is when I was doing things right it didn't seem hard, but once you slide too far it is hard to get going again. I think I will head to the gym and do a ride tomorrow morning. . .

Today I made the first side by side comparision of two pictures of myself. I'm wearing the same shirt in both of them standing in the same doorway, trying to keep the same posture/facial expression and everything.

The old picture is from June 30th where I weighed 260.5. The new picture is from August 6th (today) where I weighed 242. Looking at these pictures side by side helps, but I don't know how to do that on here.

Well, no after pictures as today is the first day of the rest of my life. As of today, I am 6'0" and weighed 259 at the club today. My plan is to use the new bike for my cardio to supplement my weight work. Not looking to get bigger muscle wise, but don't want to lose any strength. Gotta be able to to take care of my baby girl.

I was 180 pounds when I graduated high school, 235 and FAT at the age of 25, 225 and about 10% body fat, benching 425, squating 475, curling 140 at the age of 27. Then kind of lost some, met my now ex-wife, was married for 3 years and back to being out of shape and overweight. Up to about a month ago walking up the stairs would wind me. And that's not good when you have a beautiful 2 year old daughter. Got back in the gym again and decided I didn't like the cardio options there so I will use the gym for weight work and the new Specialized for my cardio. Even planning routes to work so I can bike if I want. Just a couple of very busy streets to figure out.

Anyway, here are my before pictures:

There is definitely some good motivation on this site and the pictures you guys have posted have shown me it can be done. I hope to get down to the 210-220 lb range and still keep some all over muscle mass. We will see. I would like to get back to where a 32-34 inch waste fits nicely, too. Went and bought a new suit this past weekend (I know, probably a bad time to do so) and was in a 40-42 inch waist in dress pants. And I wear a 38 in regular shorts and can get in to 36's in regular blue jeans. Most of my gut sits above the belt line.

Thanks for listening.

OK guys,
here is my contribution. I started exactly one year ago and lost around 40 pounds. Trousers size went from 40 to 34, and resting HR went from 74 to 52.

Notice the waistline. I just hope to get someone motivated.

I just joined this forum two weeks ago and came across this thread. You big guys have done a great job in getting back to your normal weight.First of I am 67 and I have always heard that as you get older it's harder to loose weight. NOT TRUE. I never looked big but I was 50 pounds overweight. I am 5ft 10" and not big framed. 18 months ago I was over 220 and gaining. I was taking pills for everything. I was hiking and getting plenty of exercises and lost no weight. I changed my lifestyle "EATING" and dropped 40 pounds in 5 months. Here is what I did.I had a bowl of cereal in the morning and a apple at noon and then ate anything I wanted at night but just less of it. I have been at 180 now for a year. I want to get to 170 so I started riding bike three months ago after many years away from it. At first I lost some weight but then I gained some back but I was getting smaller around the waist. I was loosing fat and starting to build some muscle. I have gone down another pant size without loosing weight. 42 Pants were tight and now 35 are loose. When I was in the Army SF in 1967 I had a 34 waist and weighted 160 so I think 170 is the best I can shoot for. It's all about eating. You all have done a great job.Keep up the good work.

my slimdown pic, too

Hey this is inspiring!

BTW, I'm new to the site and have biked over 2,400 miles this year compared with about 100 or less in 2006. I bike about 200 miles a week, switching between 50-mile and 30-mile treks on Chicago's beautiful lakefront path and up into Evanston to Northwestern University's campus there.

Upgraded from my late 80's Asahi MTB hybrid, had an early 80's Raleigh road bike for a while, now pushing on with my 1992 Trek 1200.

Here's my pic (should have done full bodied, as the tummy/legs area went from flab to slightly-fab ) I was near my peak 257 lbs on the left and am about 215 lbs in the current pic on the right. I'm 5'7.

Keep riding and most of all, have fun!
