Hey!

Currently I have Bontrager Race lites 700x25 tires and run them at 120psi (I am 245 lbs). They have worked great for me but one got a cut.

I am thinking of replacing wuth 700x23 tires since that size is much more abundant...any thoughts? Any other clydes run 23 width tires with no problem? Specifically, I am thinkng 700x23 Conti Ultragators

Unless you are racing or pretending to...you should be riding a larger volume tire IMHO.
For your weight a 28mm on smooth roads would be better and a 32mm ideal for a versatile tire on multi surface roads we often encounter. If your bike won't take the wider tires then you need another bike.
I have a lightweight machine frome the 70's/80's that will only handle 25mm tires or tubulars and at 265 pounds I have to pump them to 125 psi just to save my rims. Punctures are much more likely unless you only ride perfectly smooth and clean roads....even then I had one the first week of riding. Since I have switched to a touring style machine and 32mm tires with fenders for rain here in the N.W. I haven't ever been sorry and my speed on rougher roads has actually gone up due to less vibration. I get the benefit of a smoother ride with very little penalty and no flats in over 1000 miles. I currently use Panaracer Urbanmax 32mm 700c tires pumped to between 80-90 psi or so, on Mavic T-520 rims with 36 spokes. No wheel truing yet either. Save your expensive wheels, ride the fattest tire you can and never look back, unless you are one of those skinny under 180 pounders!

I have benn running 700x23's since I had my bike because thats what came with it. I was at 302 but down to 265. I have never had a problem. I just replaced my tires with Vittoria Rubino Pro's and they are doing just fine on a set of Mavic Aksiums. I run 125 psi in the back and 110 in the front with absolutely no problems.

I ended up with 700x25 Conti Ultra Gatrskins. Took a quick ride and they seem great!

Good choice! I ride Conti 4 Seasons 700x25 and love them. I switched from 23's to 25's and run the pressure at 100psi. If you look at the Conti sheet they recommened 95 psi for rec. riding. I with I could find the article Conti did on tire pressures and rolling resistance. By lowering the pressure it improved the ride and handling, puts more tire in contact with the road and I haven't noticed any extra rolling resistance. I've had no problems with pinch flats.

I am 6'3" 315 lbs. I have a Dettonator 700X28 that came with the bikeat 90 psi. On the back is a kevlar reinforced 700X30 Tandem tire at 100 psi.Haven't had a flat for over half a year. Rides well on my stock Giant FCR4 rims that use a shrader valve!Tires are still running true with only minor adjustment every three months or so! My max speed so far was 31.5 mph down an overpass.

Use Vredestein Fortezza tricomp 700x23 at 145lb pressure. For winter hacking, Vredestein Ricorso 700x23take some beating and are cheap.

I have Bontrager Select (700x35). I put 2,000+ on the rear (replaced it when I got my wheel relaced) and the front now has about 3,000 on it. Never a flat.

Im running Michelin Speediums (decent tire, wont break the bank). 700x23c at appx 115psi. Rolls good under by 230lb arse!

I am 225 pounds and I use Conti GP4000, they are fantastic, and at $32 or so from PBK a hard to beat deal.
