Stomach ache while riding moderate

I was riding this morning-fairly flat with some low grades for about 35 minutes. Id eaten breakfast about an hourish before and was fairly well hydrated. It was 54 outside. Not too exertive since Im getting into riding as an alternative to my pre army injury running. I got a stomach ache during the last 10 minutes or so coming up a long upward grade- not a muscle cramp or anything. Could this just be adaptation or hydration or something? I rode a mile and a half or so earlier this week and I don't know how far today-not too bad since it was only half an hour averaging around 10-12 mph with some stops for cars. I weigh 265, but im trying to go relatively easy. Any ideas?

I do this sometimes. Usually if i just push through it it will go away. It could be anything. Maybe what you had for breakfast didn't agree with your stomach or you might have drank to much liquid. Could be what you had to eat the night before. You will learn to find a balance of what works for your body. If it continues then I would suggest seeing your doctor.

The body pools most of your blood in the abdomen after a meal to
aid in digestion. If you're getting a tummy pain then eat a bit of
fruit, then ride, THEN have your full breakfast. This is also the
same reason humans get sleepy after a big meal.

Added.......
If this method fails to work then please see a doctor to check to
see if something else is going on.

Also be aware of what you eat. Carbohydrates, which are the body's fuel, are easier to digest than proteins and fats. Fats can be particularly difficult because then require more energy to digest. When I'm going to be going all day as in a touring situation, I personally have to stay away from anything that has fats in it. Pizza or a hamburger or anything with a high fat content for lunch (I don't usually eat lunch will doing day long riding) will come back to haunt me.

Definitely try adjusting what you eat. Try to split breakfast, if it's at all practical. I also make it a good point to poop before I ride. Sorry, maybe TMI, but I've had a nasty stomach ache that was from just having to poop.

All good advice above.

When I got my [what I think was an] asthma attack it started in my stomach area/diaphragm. When I pushed through it turned into a cramp that kinda spread to my chest, back, and sides and then I couldn't breathe. If this is the first time you're getting your breathing rate up in a while it *could* be an early indication of exercise induced asthma. Especially if the air was on the dryer side and cooler (54). I'd try all of the above, and keep a good eye on it.

To avoid cramps don't forget salt is your friend. Some people will put a pinch of salt in their water/gatorade to help replenish what's being sweated out.

Another thing that can cause this is a depletion of Calcium. Maybe some Tums?
