helmet mirror pain in neck, different mirror??
good afternoon .
I started using a helmet mirror recently as one of my commute routes is in very heavy traffic.
having a mirror has been very helpful BUT a major pain in the neck!!
after reading many reviews I purchased a take a look compact mirror.
the mirror works ok but no matter what I do about the only/best view I can dial in takes up 50% of the mirror with my shoulders (Im a wide clyde).
I also have a short neck so cant extend like many with swan like features or duck length for that matter.
I took the long route riding home last night and my neck got real sore looking way up and to the left all the time to get a Clean view.
Do I need a longer mirror? or one that can swing out further and even up so I dont have to hold my head at such a strange angle all the time??
suggestions please
many thanks
"John"

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Thanks for reply,
I used a bar end a long time ago, they vibrate alot and only work real well at one view angle
plus I have several bikes and dont want to mount mirrors on all of them.
maybe my problem is common but I would think I could get the mirror a little higher??? but not the one I own.
I do ride fairly upright bars are at seat height.
thanks

I'm not a clydesdale. I get the top of my shoulder and the bottom of my ear in my Take-A-Look. I use it on my glasses. I've gotten used to it and I use my shoulder and ear lobe as a reference when I put it on. Do you have the mirror oriented horizontally or vertically?

HELLO lsits
since its A TAKE A LOOK I can set it up anyway I want.
it seems to work best horizontal but at a slight angle down. focusing is not hard just getting a good view without being an owl. short neck thing too I think doesnt help.
I saw a post somewhere on line about the Cycleaware reflex mirror. this gent mentioned he was tired of having his neck at a bad angle too with a few different mirrors.
He mentioned getting a cycleaware and he has it set up so he just looks up into the mirror rather than his neck at a 45deg angle.
I looked at the Reflex and it does seem longer / more bendable than most.??
maybe ill have to play with mine ahile longer.
many thanks

John,
Have you tried putting a bend in the stem that goes between the mirror and your glasses? I had a similar problem so I put a bend in mine that offset the mirror a full 3/4" outward. It worked for me.

I wound up using this mirror and it's most adjustable and easy to use I've found.
