Dean Titanium
Hey Board,
I'm new here and I'm looking for a good hardtail bike. I'm a bit of a heavy weight at 5"10" & 265lbs and wondered if any Titanium mountain bike will ever work? Am I limited to only "hucking" style bikes or is it possible to find a well made bike for a good price? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated... I'm trying to surprise myself for this Christmas!
Thanks,
Mike

In all honestly, I think almost any quality brand hardtail will hold up to normal usage for you. Get some wider tires to add some compliance, but I would be very surprised if you were able to destroy a Ti hardtail.
However... how hardcore a rider are you? If you plan on doing serious drops, well... then maybe call the manufacturers. If you are going Ti, are you going custom? Seven Cycles makes some awesome Ti bikes. My buddy has a duo, FS mountain, and it is fantastic.

I just ordered up a Dean Animas CTI for road work. They were very helpful on the phone so if you are considering them, call and ask. I found them to be willing to give advice not just a sales pitch.
