Jersey Design

We talked about a clydesdale jersey. Here is my work up.
What do you think? This on both sides: Attachment 32411 with text on back underneath the art which says, "There is a reason they call us draft horses." Basic white jersey. (I'd love to hear feedback.) My guiding principals from old discussions were:
What I did for the picture was take a regular horse and "beef" him up to be a clyde. (Bigger hooves, more mass on legs/head/neck/underside/etc) |
Attachment not working.

Now it is :)

Great start!
Is there a way of making the horse look like it's running more? I'd love to see a gallop vs a trot. Maybe people on the bikes so it looks like they're all booking. I think the text is perfect! |
Awesome!!! Love it! I want 1 or 2. - JB

I know less about horses than I do about bicycles or bike jerseys.
So, which looks better? Attachment 32415 or Attachment 32416 or did I get it wrong? I think I got the front legs right but I don't know about the rear... |
The rear legs on the second one is close - have the front legs also go out.
http://www.marchabrazo.org/Running%20Horse.jpg Wonder if there's a way of using that on there - I really like this pic! |

Air, that picture is not a clydesdale.
If you look at the detail on the horses I posted, I made them more muscular and gave them wider heads and bigger feet. (Like a Clydesdale.) Are there any horse people out there? We have two NYC boys debating how horses run! |
I like #3! It looks like a Knights Charger at launch on the joust (I've seen jousts as Pennsic and SCA events.). Clyde's were originally Scot Chargers, like the Morgans were French and English Chargers.

Based on Hambone's design

I took jaxgtr's suggestion and used my newfound knowledge of the federal highway signage guidelines and did some research on running horses. This is what that wrought:
Attachment 32466 NOTE: There was a post on the Clydesdale Jersey thread of a different image (a Poco cover) Check that out too. |

+1 Jb

without overthinking the thing, if it says "Clydesdale Ahead" -- should it be front and back?
If not, what on front? Too bad the url for the clydesdale thread isn't: http://www.bkeforums.net/clydesdales |

Looks awesome for the front AND back of the jersey. I'm starting to drool over the thought of buying a couple. Hambone, you da man!!! -JB

I wish Bike Forums had a store, I'd love to put it there and let them get a piece. You have to figure they could charge a premium, get them discounted and have some fulfillment person deal witht he actual headaches. (Plus it would keep me free of the next step which is apparently going to be Hambone going into the jersey vendor business.) |
Haha - gotcha! :)

I really love the concept and the design. Great idea! :)
Just my $0.02.... Being a farm girl from Montana (did I just admit that?:o ) and a quasi 'horse person', I just wanted to comment on the leg position. The very first 'sign' posted has the legs of the horse running going in the correct direction. The 2nd and 3rd signs have the legs going in directions that aren't the natural position of a horse that is running. Now, being bucked off a horse or two, the 2nd sign reminds me of all hell breaking loose and hold on tight or prepare for a trip to the hospital for an arm cast... The horse that Air* posted, that is 'haulin' ass' is a great example of a horse running that shows leg position. I can't say that I've ever seen a clyde haulin' ass in the sense of moving quickly - more along the lines of pulling one hell of a load. :D Anyway, I'm sure there are lots of opinions out there. I'm happy to support the venture, whatever the design turns out to be. I think it is terrific idea! |

(FWIW- I found a video of a horse running, paused it at a couple of spots and modeled the 2nd and third after them. Horses sure do have some flailing legs! But it is more about how peole react to the image then accuracy and if the 2nd and third look wrong to horse people then... they look wrong.) I'm home for a few days. I'll play with the image next week. To whoever here celebrates it: Have a Merry Christmas! |
