Clyde Bars and Stem . . . for cycling that is
 

OK maybe we could use a Clyde bar for sampling the latest brews, but that's not what this is about, sorry ;-)

I'm looking for a shortish drop bars, a la salsa poco but not so narrow. Lightweight, but aluminum.

Maybe Ritchey classic road, maybe the salsa cyclocross bars. I even liked the flat top bars but lack of wrap/slippery/sweat/slipping off on our potholed roads has me wondering.

Main consideration is comfort, safety, durability, price. I don't need a deep drop, since I'm an older rider and like the top of the saddle level with the tops of the bars, and mostly use the drops for a change of pace, or to hunker down in a stiff headwind.

So what's working for y'alls?

I use the Ritchey biomax on my bikes.....44 normally (got fairly wide shoulders). I find that they work really well and are comfortable for most type of riding. I have hade no issues with them in the pot-hole filled roads that Pa is famous for. I used to ride a Ritchey Pro , but those have been sold some time ago. DEDA also makes one shallow drop bar and I tried one of them also, but as with the Ritchey Pro.....they have also been sold.

None of my bars fit your criteria. As far as stems go, I use Thompson.

I agree with the Ritchey Biomax. I also run a set of auxilary Cyclocross brake levers on the upper portion of the bar. This puts brakes in the same place as my mountain bike when I'm just poking along on the top of the bar.
My advice for clydes, run no graphite bars, stems or posts. The designers world for lightweight parts is not populated by riders like us.
