28mm tyres on a Specialized Allez?

I've learnt that riding on my rough Buckinghamshire roads (mostly) that 23mm tyres are just too bangy and unforgiving for me on my ride to school, so I want to change my tyres to 28mm instead just so it rides over bumps smoother and also to hold the weight of my pannier better, but with my racing bike, I am wondering if anyone can verify if 28mm tyres will fit? Or is there any way of testing or finding information before I splash out on the tyres,
Oh and by the way, the Allez is just a standard triple 05 model
    Regards Sam

    Any Help would be great!

You'd be a fool not to, in my opinion. I used to run 32s on my old Allez, and I'll never go back to 23s. I'm not sure about the newer models (mine was an older lugged steel frame), but 32 was as big as I could go--35s rubbed on the brake in front and cleared in the rear by only about a millimeter.
FWIW, I have an Atlantis and a Rambouillet now, and I have 35mm tires on the former and 32 on the latter. If you're 200 pounds plus, I just don't see any reason to ride the same tires all those 140-pound guys do.
