    Large shoes + orthotics?

    Greetings fellow giants!

I have pretty big feet (size 16), which are flat like Kansas (flatter than a pancake!). I also have custom orthotic inserts for my shoes...to walk in. What I'm wondering then is whether or not my orthotics should go into my cycling shoes? I currently have some size 51 sidi genius 5's, which don't quite work with the inserts..I'm going to be doing some extended touring and found a decent deal on some sidi mtb shoes..up to a 52, which would presumably work with the inserts in.

SO, does anybody have experience with orthotics + cycling shoes?

I recommend yes for orthotics in your cycling shoes - you never know when you may have to walk a distance...

I cycle in sneakers & platform pedals, and my "flat kit" is a cell phone to call for pickup if I get a flat tire. Whenever my wife isn't home, however, I sometimes need to walk for miles back to home. I really appreciate having the orthotics in the shoes then.

If you NEVER expect to walk, you wouldn't be asking...

Id ask your doctor. I wear orthotics too, and wouldnt trust anyone's opnion off the internet about my health.
I dont wear my ortho's in my cycling shoes. I mainly wear them for work and thats about it.......but I pay for it if I go without for too long.
