11 months ~ 102 lbs (and counting)
How's it going everyone. I hope this message doesn't come across as boasting/rude/or smug. Its just that I am very proud of myself and what I have been able to accomplish thus far.
The short story is...
That in May 2006 I weighed in @ 375 lbs!!
As of today 3/30/07 I weighed in @ 273 lbs
I didn't do any medical procedures, or take any miracle drug/supliment. I just started eating better and excersizing (riding my bike's)
Its quite an amazing feeling.
I can get into a longer, detailed story if anyone wants. But I'll wait until I get home on my computer, instead of typing on my Sidekick phone.
I wish everyone well, and good luck as you strive to loose weight. It was far from an easy task to undertake, but I, as well as my family & friends, am glad that I did it.
Oh yeah, and I'm 50 or so lbs off from my desired goal. So I plan to continue on my current path.

Brag away! It's an accomplishment! This is one if those things that helps others too, Phil, so no, none of us think it's ego driven, but just a need to share your success!

GREAT JOB! Can you tell us how many miles you rode? How old are you? What changes did you make in your diet?
I rode over 4,000 miles last year and lost only 10 pounds or so. I need your secrets.

Fantastic, excellent job. I have been stuck at 300 for a month now and it sucks. I weighed the same as you and started right around the same time. Do tell your path to 273.

wow. Thank you all for the compliments. For some reason or another I wasn't expecting that, but thank you all very much. Now that I am home in front of my computer I can lay it all out. If there is any further detail needed, be sure to let me know.
Some vitals about me. Well, I am 6'4" of Filipino descent, 28 years old. Living in southern california.
Since finding how much I have enjoyed riding bicycles, I have collected 7 different bikes. I started with a Specialized Rockhopper because I was doing mostly mtn biking. BUt I got discouraged with that bike because of the front suspension. Everytime I sat on it, the front suspension would sink well past 50%, so I had it swapped to a rigid fork. That made my riding and climbing a hell of a lot better, but going downhill was a real test on my arms and legs. But at that point I was really enjoying it.
I moved on to an old schwinn 10 speed that I quickly converted to single speed. But the old wheels were not up to holding my weight, So I had the wheel rebuilt with new spokes, and I haven't had a problem with that wheel since. I wanted to try fixed gear so I had another wheel built up and absolutely loved the way the fixed gear rode. Its a very connected feeling. But not wanting to give up the SS i picked up another old frame, and put the fixed wheel in there. The progression of bikes just goes on and on. I don't need so many bikes, but its fun to have choices of what to pick. Currently my main rides are a 2001 Giant TCR 1 with full ultegra groupo, my fixie, a fun little bianchi folding bike, and my mtn bike.
I'm not too sure how many miles I have ridden over the past months. But I can tell you that I commuted to work at least 3 days of the week. One way ride is 8 miles. and on the way home, I would go the long way home stretching my ride home to maybe 15 miles. If I wake up early enough, I take the long way to work as well, so my daily riding can be upwards of 30 miles. On the weekends, I try and get in at least 50 miles on one day, then a shorter 20 or so miles on the other. But lately I have not had much opportunity to do any of my riding due to other commitments. But I still watch my diet. One other thing that I did for riding/fun was critical mass rides, group rides and if anyone has ever heard of Midnightridazz rides. All just slow paced parties on wheels, but a mile is still a mile, plus its really fun.
The following is what my daily diet consists of. (I do most if not all of my shopping at Trader Joes)
Breakfast
soy flax flakes cereal - 1 cup
soy milk - 3/4 cup
snack
1 banana
handfull of almonds
lunch
handful of carrots, broccoli, cauliflower
2 slices whole wheat toast
1 can of tuna prepared with a little relish, dijon mustard, lemon juice (no mayo at all)
1/2 cup kidney beans with hotsauce
snack
small apple
1/4 cup dried cranberries
10 whole wheat pretzel sticks
Dinner
THis is where I have some problems. Only because my wife is not eating the same as me, so what I may think is good and plenty, she does not. So I try to comprimise, but I try go with baked boneless skinless chicken with brown rice and vegetables. It really varies, but I would say that I eat a sensible dinner.
Mon-friday I stick with the above diet. On the weekends, I cannot stick with it since my schedule always varies, but I tend to eat less on the weekends, and less frequently, but not always the "right" kinds of foods.
The other thing that I do on a weekly basis is monitor my weight. Every friday, I take a walk to my shipping department and jump up on the pallet scale. Its a big digital scale that weighs our pallets before shipping. From that I guage my progressive weight loss. It has been fun to see as much as a 12 lb loss from the week before.
Thats pretty much what I have done, and done it consistantly. I started a food journal, but since I now eat the same foods mon-fri I stopped. With my diet above, I am not hungry and I eat through the entire day. If I did my calorie counting correctly, my breakfast through the last snack is somewhere around 1500 calories, then the dinner comes in which varies in calories.
