Another First Metric Century
This seems to be "first metric century" week...
My wife, Kasia, and I participated in the Flying Wheels Summer Century this past Saturday. We were not quite prepared for the full century, so we did the 70 mile ride (which was closer to 65 miles, but we rode to and from the start/finish line, so we ended up with about 71 miles).
We completed the route in about 7 hours (5 hours of saddle time). There were four large-ish hills (large enough to be listed on the tick sheet) and numerous smaller hills. Luckly, Mother Nature cooperated and kept the rain away. It got a little windy towards the end of the day, but not too bad.
All in all, I'd say it was a total success. The ride was well organized, and well supported. (Many times we saw the "support team" cars providing mechanical and medical support. Luckly, we needed neither.)
Here are before and after pictures. The full photo album is here. It's in Polish, but you can probably figure it out. (Note: the photos are rather "raw"; some could use a bit of Photoshop Lovin'.)
Next big ride: Seattle-to-Portland!
