Happy 4th Everyone! I hope everyone has a great day and does not get to drunk....lol

I just got back from a ride and I am very disapppointed. I felt as though I had no energy and I think I my have been a little dehydrated. The country roads where I live are very hilly. That may have been part of my problem. I made it 14 miles but I was not feeling good.

Do you guys peddle downhill or do you coast? I have trouble peddling on the downslope of hills.

Rode 25 miles this morning, as a dry run for my commute. (The whole commute is 36 miles round trip, so I got 2/3 of it.) Got turned around at one point, I think I made a mistake on the cur steet (left turn instead of right) and didn't have time to head back.

Spent the rest of the day helpingt a buddy install in-wall speakers for his home theater. We didn't finish, but we got all the speakers in the wall.

Heavy gauge speaker wire is annoying; it seems to have a rudimentary intelligence, enough to tangle itself up. I was feeding wire into the attic, and my friend was squatting ther eon the 2x4s, reaching for the wire. He insists it knotted iself as I was feeding it before he cound grab it.

Good fourth for me also. Kinda got a late start this morning, but I squeezed in an inpromtu (sp?) metric century. I guess I just kept going and the next thing I know I topped out at 100km. First time btw, furtherest before was around 40 miles. Took around 4 hours --give or take a half hour.

Came back and now I don't know what to do...having a day off in the middle of the week is weird for me.

Nothing to do can lead to good things afterall...
    Have a good one everyone!

30 miles this morning, 16mph average. My fastest yet.

Not bad for a chubby guy on a 38 pound MTB with 1.75" tires.

We had such a busy day planned I had to get up at 7AM to get a quik bike ride in. I barely get up that early on a work day, much less a holiday.

It rained here, and I had to work, so I only got in 5 miles. I did climb a hill I'd never climbed before - Neil Fein has seen it from my car.

Someone at work mentioned to me that he tends to spin while coasting, even if there's no resistance. The idea is to keep spinning. I've picked it up, seems like a good habit. Keeps the blood pumping! (Although a tractor trailer can do that as well...)

Had a GREAT day! I got up early this AM, did some finishing touches and got my bike road worthy although still quite a bit more work I want to do to it. I loaded the wifes and my bikes up and went to a local park for our first ride together. Just as we got the bikes unloaded it started raining. I looked at the wife and she said " We came here to ride. I've been wet before....lets ride!" We rode for just over a hour then the rain quit. We rode another 20 min.s and loaded the bikes and talked about how great it was to ride. We changed into some dry clothes and went to her Uncle's 72nd birthday party then headed home, changed clothes again and went back to the park for another ride. We rode for almost 2 hours of casual riding before we both were pretty tired. I'm surprised we lasted that long! There was a BIG difference between our first and second rides. We were much more comfortable riding on the second ride and laughed about the "Big exciting hill" we rode down in the morning being a boring slope this afternoon. I can't wait to ride again in the morning.

Get some fish tape from Home Depot or Lowe's, it'll make your life much easier.

No bike ride for me today - bike's in the shop getting a 105 triple crankset installed, and I have to work tonight anyway. Oh well, at least I get holiday pay.

    Happy 4th everyone!

'Water, water, everywhere....' Always hydrate, even for short rides. Especially in summer.

I'll often spin on a downhill, both to keep blood moving and so I can more easily get back into a normal cadence once the downhill ends. Also, I will shift gears before the bottom of the hill, and I need the pedals moving to do that.

We had one, those things are incredibly useful. The problem was getting the cable untangled enough so we could feed it through the walls.

Yeah - sometimes, despite the best tools / preperation, nothing goes right. I used to do that stuff for a living. Very rewarding work most of the time, but some days...
