New Clyde on board!
I'm pretty new to the board... You can read my intro HERE
. I do a lot more reading than posting right now, but I'm hoping that as I continue to learn I can offer some words of wisdom...
First, I'd like to say that reading the posts in this forum is truly inspirational. You folks have and continue to make great successes in fitness and it's VERY impressive. Kudos to all.
I'm running around 230 right now, and would really like to get down to about 190/200. I'm about 6'2", so I will always be pretty heavy.
I'd like to ask- when selecting/building a road bike for people our size, how much thought does one need to give regarding the strength of the frame? Can I buy any quality road frame and be sure that it will take years of abuse from my 200+ pounds? I'm in the process of building myself a bike now, and I'd hate to buy a high end racing frame only to find out that it was designed to be used by a 130lb guy for one race season only... I'm reasonably fit, but am new to road cycling. I'm a fairly adept runner and swimmer and my girlfriend has competed in a few triathlons... I'm thinking that I might like to join her...
