i'm on the road again!
went to the lbs today to check out the kona dew and ended up taking it home! i got there at about 6 and didnt leave till closer to 9, an hour after they closed, while they adjusted and adjusted and adjusted until it was right. it still wasn't shifting as well as i would have liked so they're going to upgrade the shifters at no cost to me! they were going to upgrade the front derailleur to a deore but they were having trouble fine tuning it. but i'll take free upgraded shifters and break levers! plus i get free tuneups for life. if any of you guys are looking to buy a bike in the st. louis area, i emplore you to go to the hub bicycle shop. i didn't intend to buy the bike today but since they devoted so much time and effort to trying to make it a good experience for me, i would have felt bad if i didn't!

Sounds like a great shop. I'm gonna be in the St. Louis area this fall, and I've been looking for a Kona dealer anyway... do they have a website?

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

well, i left the trek outside in my front yard with nothing close by to chain it to. i don't think a lock would have done much good. from now on all bikes go in the garage when not in use. i'm thinking about making one of those pvc bike racks this weekend so we can keep all the bikes together.

I've got a set of plans somewhere to make one from parts from a throwaway cheap Walmart Futon, I'll look through my files and host it somewhere.

Most garage locks are cheap junk that can be easily broken and motorized garage door openers can easily be defeated. Meaning unless the bikes are locked, it's too easy to pop the garage door, and steal whatever you like from the garage. For this reason you should also keep the house door to the garage locked as well.

my garage door is very loud and i'd hear it if someone were to try and open it. i've considered installing an electric garage door opener to make it easier for my kids to open it and get their bikes out.
