My name is Barry, and I'm a Clyde...

Hello all,
I've been riding now for about two months, mostly to get in shape for motocross but I'm enjoying cycling tremendously. I bought a Trek 2100 and started riding 1-3 times a week, depending on my schedule. I'm 6'4" and 235 lbs so I fit squarely in Clyde territory. I haven't lost any weight yet, but I can feel a difference in my strength and endurance, and definitely see a difference in leg muscle.

My odo sits at 97.6 now, even though I'm having trouble making time to ride. I live too far from work to commute, and I have to balance my time with my 3 year old daughter. I pretty much do all of my riding on the Silver Comet Trail, a rails-to-trails MUP. So far my longest ride has been 17 miles in 1:04, and I could have gone longer... but the group agreed on a turnaround point, and besides, when you are doing a there-and-back route it's hard to figure when you are half-spent. I plan to up my distance as soon as I can ride again, as I just had a vasectomy 2 days ago (TMI, right?). Hopefully up to 30-40 miles by the end of summer and maybe a metric by the end of the year.

Looking forward to more discussion!

Hi, Barry.

17 miles in one hour is quite a nice pace!

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.
