I Joined Team In Training
I have been reading this forum for quite a while now and have gained so much from reading your posts. Encouragement to pursue weight loss and a healthier lifestyle as well as neccesary knowledge to keep rolling safely.
I joined Team in Training last night and am going to start training for a big ride in November, The Tour De Tuscon. I'm pumped up about this. Is anyone else here doing anything like Team In Training? What has your experience been like?
Here is my little website they set up for me. I have to raise $3500 for the Luekemia and Lymphoma Society as part of this whole deal. I'm a little nervous about the fundrasing, but I'll do my best!

Thanks!

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

Be sure to post this in Charity Events forum. Put the link in your signature as well, that way it appears where ever you post in the forum and it's cool with guidelines as well. See my sig so you see what I mean.

Good luck with the fundraising. It helps if you know a LOT of people, and you probably know more than you suspect. I contacted old college buddies, coworkers from my previous job, and close friends. That was enough to put me well over my fundraising. So much so, that I didn't even hit up my current coworkers. (They'll get hit up next season )
You'd be amazed at the generosity of some people!
It was great getting back in touch with my old college friends again, so the fundraising was doubly rewarding for me.
Take the training seriously also, you'll finish the ride if you half-azz the training. If you stay on it though, riding 2x midweek plus the Saturday ride, you'll really improve on the bike. I become a decent climber and lost a little over 30 pounds during my season.
I thank you, and my Mom, who is now recovering from her bone marrow transplant, thanks you for your efforts

Good luck with your fundraising, and have fun on the ride! I did the Tour de Cure earlier this year and it was a blast.
With Team in Training, the only suggestion that I have (based on my experiences with them here in Redmond) is to make sure that they remain courteous to other people on the road/MUP, whichever you train on.
Team in Training around here is notorious for having packs of 30 or more joggers spanning from edge to edge of the MUP, and they won't move until you're right up on them and tap one of them on the shoulder.
