Sometimes the stupid topics are the fun ones, and I got alot of them! I myself can't stand KFC chicken. I gave up fast food a few years ago for cycling purposes. Trained hard and ate good stuff. One day I drove by a KFC and all I could smell was the grease. Now everytime I smell KFC, my stomache turns.

Man, I really need to get back to watching what I eat, but Ben and Jerry just keep calling my name.

No KFC or any other fried chicken joint. Donahoo's, Pioneer! BBQ yeah! Fried chicken, NO!

Well, I'm probably not the best person to answer this since I'm vegetarian, but I find KFC (and other fast food joints) absolutely disgusting. It's actually gotten to the point where I won't ride by the KFC near my house because of the god-awful smells that emanate from that place. I really don't know how fried chicken got so successful. I'm sure that they could just fry up the batter and sell it, and people would eat it up (pun intended). That's probably the worst thing, that even though people know how bad greasy food is for them, they will stay pay hard earned cash to put it in their body. I can honestly say that even if McDonalds, or KFC, or any of them paid me to live comfortably for the rest of my life. I'm talking 75-100k a year. I would still not eat at those places.

I love me some fried chicken! But KFC is pretty bad. It's hard to find decent fried chicken up north. Consequently I don't eat it very often. When it's done well, I have no problem indulging.

I dont mind their chicken but they are overpriced. Here in Louisiana, small franchise chicken joints and mom@pop convenience store chicken rules..... Oh yea, my moms fried chicken is the best!

Then you have never had some homemade southern fried chicken cooked in an iron skillet, and thats the only way to cook it. I too loves me some fried chicken, but not the stuff you get in a bucket. Have not had it in a while, cause if you have fried chicken then you have to have corn, mash potato's, green beans, coleslaw and biscuits, just like Mom and Grandma used to make. Just dreaming about it is a carbohydrate nightmare.

Good thing I married a girl from New Mexico, cause she does not have the southern cooking gene.

I will have to add that I hate it also. I have never liked fried chicken, but we ate it a lot when we were kids. Must have been cheap to fix, because we didn't have much money.

They make money, because they advertise well and people want something quick and easy. Most of them are combining with Taco Bell in smaller towns to try and make more money in the same size building. They are always crowded.

That's a darn good point. The last time I had chicken at KFC (about a year ago) I remember the skin being delicious while the meat itself was disgustingly greasy. I would be willing to invest in your business proposal.

This is not to say that I have not been through the KFC drive through a time or two since for the coleslaw and the biscuits. I can't believe nobody else mentioned the biscuits yet .

Hmmmm, fried chicken..... They serve fried chicken for breakfast here in Costa Rica - now THAT is civilized!

Of course, if you aren't a bike commuter or work in the fincas it could kill you....

That will produce good fried chicken. And assuming you due it right it won't be a health nightmare. What you get from KFC is a health nightmare before you put it into a pressure fryer.

My true weakness. I could eat fried chicken every day. I'm trying to keep it at once a month so I try to wait until I can get to Popeye's in St. Louis. I'm capable of spending serious time at the KFC buffet however.

When I lived in London (last year) I read an article in the paper where the reporter accompanied some sewage workers for a day on the job. The most horrifying thing in the article was about the advent of fast food chains that have opened in London (McDonalds, KFC, etc..) in the last ten years. Seems that they have these disgustingly huge (6-8 feet in diameter) globs of fat that clog up the sewers . They all come from underneath these new fast food places. Yuck.

+1 on Popeye's, although as a friend says, I prefer to go to their drive-throughs and avoid having to see what the inside of the place looks like

I love fried chicken but CANNOT eat it. If I do, well, the rest of the night isn't pleasant. My stomach just can't take it, I guess.

Which is good, and bad I guess. Personally I'm looking forward to the turkey breast that the better half put in the crock pot this morning before we left for work. Yumm x 10,000.

I like chicken any way I can get it, but prefer grilled over fried. Though, some times, good fried chicken just tastes so right. Home made is far better than any chain. But as far as chains go, KFC fried chicken is OK by me. Agree that Popeyes is different and sometimes tastes better.

And as long as we're on the food wagon here and discussing friend chicken, what comes next but the king of summer foods, watermelon? And what about watermelons? We were at a Hilton in St. Louis over the weekend and ate breakfast there on Sunday morning. They had yellow watermelon on the breakfast bar and it was great. I've never seen it before. To me, watermelon is one of the GREAT summer foods, right up there with home grown tomatoes, green beans with new potatoes, and sweet corn on the cob. What is YOUR favorite summer food?

Even when I was eating fast food all the time, I still hated KFC - too much grease. Plus, I've known too many people that worked at KFC when we were younger - I don't trust the chicken there. Seriously, I've heard stories.

Besides, I don't eat anything on a bone or in a shell (yeah, I know I'm strange).

I did like Popeyes chicken strips though, and just about anything from Zaxby's. But I don't eat Popeyes anymore, and I only get Zaxby's when I'm down south, so it's all good.

Keep in mind, properly fried (meaning the food contains enough moisture and the oil is the right temperature) food contains very little of the oil its cooked in.

However, most restaurants (fast or otherwise) overcook foods to avoid legal issues, doing so with fried food means the food runs out of the moisture needed to keep steam coming from inside of the food (and thus, keeping the oil out) ... so the oil is able to get in more.

But on topic...no, i hate KFC...i just dont like the flavor. The original is too greasy, the cripsy is too dry and crunchy. That...and of all the FF restaurants, they are always the dirtiest.

I USED to like KFC, but got some about 6 months ago and it was disgusting! I don't remember it being that greasy, but I hadn't had it for several years, before then. I do like their chicken strips, though. And biscuits. But I'll take lumpy homemade mashed potatoes over the fake ones, anytime. And homemade chicken strips are WAY better than KFC.

This summer I've rediscovered a love for watermelon.. mmm... but I have to say, my favorite summer food is okra. Not greasy fried okra - just browned in a nonstick skillet until it's a little crispy, then sprinkled with salt... Oh, and home-grown tomatoes with basil and fresh mozzarella...
