Looking for a brand new hardrock sport for $279?
Then come to Scheels Sports in Lincoln NE. The 2008's just started rolling in, and they are clearing out the 2007's for $279/ea. They have all sizes left, but probably not for long at that price. I am simply blown away that they are offering these bikes for that price.
Get 'em while they last. As a sidenote, the '08s are okay, but it looks like in some respects they've gone down a level. 32h wheels opposed to 36. Suntour fork opposed to a RST (although they seem to be about the same quality). Suntour crankset. Interesting changes overall.

My wife would KILL ME! I'd love to pick up a basic MTB cheap, but I don't think now is the time. To bad...

I've got mine on layaway in Des Moines for $300. When I told them to hold it for me it was marked $330. When I showed up to put it on layaway, it had been marked down again to $300. When I go back in a few weeks to pick it up, it will be interesting to see if they've dropped prices on remaining stock even further. Regarding the '08s, I don't like the new paint schemes as much either. I think the Army Distressed and Fire Distressed (what I'm getting) look friggin schweet.
The Des Moines store still had probably 15 of them left, mostly the Fire color (2 Army), and I got the last medium frame. They had at least two of every other frame size.
