Days Off ...

So I ride:

Monday - Commute 30 Miles
Tuesday - Commute 30 Miles
Wednesday - Off
Thursday - Commute 30 Miles
Friday - 30 Mile ride at lunch during work (Used to be a MTB ride, will be again soon)
Saturday - MTB or Road ride, generally 2-4 hrs.
Sunday - Off.

Question is how many of you take days off during the week, this gives me two days off but not consecutive. Odd thing is that it is really hard for me not to ride on sunday. Today I wanted to ride so bad to, even though I had done 70 miles yesterday. But I figure that my legs and body need a recovery day, so on recovery should I ride, just force it to be slow and easy. Staying off the bike also seems to help with the burnout that can occur.

Just curious what everyone else does.

Out fishing with Annie on his lap, a cigar in one hand and a ginger ale in the other, watching the sunset.

My routine is Mon=Day 1 of a 6 day activity cycle and 1 off the bike day most of the time
  1. Hard ride
  2. Easy recovery
  3. Hard ride
  4. Easy recovery
  5. Hard
  6. Recovery
  7. off the bike (unless I want to ride a short hop for the heck of it and then it's always easy)

Same here. On the advice of my bike mentor, I'm riding less frequently but longer mileages. Bike-free days are for weight training.

I wish my life were that orderly! Generally I ride Friday, Sat. and Sunday and then during the week it's hit and miss. Instead of riding I may subsitute hiking/walking or a spin class. I generally take two days off during the week to get my house cleaned or errands run but there is no set day. I go with my body and how it feels or what I need to get done. Unless you are doing very heavy workouts I believe you can ride everyday, with no breaks, if your body can tolerate it. I wish I could but don't have the time or inclination!

Man, I wish I had a 30 mile commute daily!

This city's so damn small and the roads are too damn dangerous... I can't get out of here!

I typically take Sundays off and Wednesdays are determined how I feel. Since I have been lifting weights again post surgery, it's been a 2nd day off most of the time.
