Ride Reports as Diaries?
I'm finding that in keeping a bike log I also note what happened. Stopped to watch sunrise. Visited friends in Brooklyn for BBQ. Hot dogs at Coney Island were especially crispy. Passed by women with parrot.
When I look back it almost seems like a diary which I've never kept - but now here's six months of entries (since I started logging my miles). Anyone else notice that or keep notes like that?

I do a little bit - would like to add more but I tend to compartmentalize. I wonder how much of the rest of my life would be remembered too, if in a few years I go back and read the entries about crayfish and broken spokes... and chuckle over what I used to consider a "long" ride. Will I remember all the other cool stuff that's not cycling-related?
Maybe I should just keep one "regular" journal and put my rides in it, too...

I kept a journal when I did a tour through England a few years ago. If it's a Bikeforums ride, I usually drop a paragraph in the ride report thread.
Usually though, my local rides don't inspire much prose from me. Sometimes I wish they did, but they just don't.
You're going to have some great memories to look back on in a few years.

I log on Bikejournal, good enough for me as I look more at stats than sightseeing experiences. Since I have been riding with a camera I use the pics as a way to look back. Don't care for scenery pics, mostly the riders that ride with us.

But, I started spreadsheeting my miles Jan 1 2007 and have been expanding what all I log. This includes some ride notes. Click the various tabs across the top to see the different months.
I guess if you read the notes you can get a feel for some stuff. I don't have notes for every day, and there's a lot of interesting diary-esque stuff that's definitely missing from my ride log that gets covered on my blog.
