Getting stronger

Well I think I am starting to find my old form again, I've shaken the, "damn I need to go riding, but I don't feel like it" blues, I have ridden 100+ miles weeks in 3 of the last 5 weeks. Should hit about 130+ this week and break 2000 miles for the year.

What I am really happy about is that tonight for the first time since I got hurt, I was able to pedal the whole ride, 26 miles, in the BIG chain ring. It was even windy tonight, about 8 to 10 from the South and I kept churning away. Hot damn, looking forward to my ride tomorrow.

Awesome!

I am at the point where I get up in the morning and am mad if I can't ride my commute if it is thunderstorms or I need the car at work for something.

I haven't ridden in three days, but I am going to try and get in 30 miles tomorrow after I do a five mile run/walk interval training. I will see how my legs feel. If it wasn't for this forum, I think I would be slacking a lot more than I am. I read a post in a thread and it makes me want to get out and ride, even though it is pitch black outside and I don't want to get run over. I used to ride at 5:00 a.m., but the sun isn't anywhere close to being up, so now I have to wait and do it later, and then the traffic is terrible. We don't have bike routes in our area.

Just make sure you have a good light system, front and back, and you should be ok.

I have the same issue. I ride from 4AM to 6AM. You will not see the sun until about 6:30. as jaxgtr said have a good light system and wear reflective clothing. I have reflective tape on my bike and helmet as well.

I am now at the stage where I want to be out riding every day but some serious chafing issues have kept me off the bike for over a week now. Tomorrow should be the day to get out and ride.

It is funny, back in the day (nearly 20 years ago) I could ride for hours on end with no problems (even before I got a pair of cycling shorts). Now just 20 miles and I am a wreak for days afterwards.

In the immortal words of groundskeeper Willie, "Butter me up woman, I'm goin' in."

19 Years of sittin' on the couch watching your navel move further out will do that to the best of us.

It's called age, when I was in college, I could go to bed at 4 be up at 6, go all day, and repeat for about 5 days in a row, one good 9 hour sleep (probably after a half dozen beers) and I would be ready to repeat. Now (25 years later) I don't get at least 7 hours, I'm weak for a week, and need a couple of pots of coffee, to function at all for the first couple of days, and haven't had beer in about 15 years. I prefer a premium Canadian rye whisky, but haven't had that in years either
