I voted physical labor and it seems to fit. I am part owner of a cleaning company and I spend my days and nights cleaning carpets and upholstery and hard floors in homes and businesses. I also do Fire, Water, Mold, Sewage, and Trauma Damage clean ups.

Go figure, IT is in the lead! By day I am a Network Administrator, by night I am biker/trucker/auto recycler.

I work IT for the Gubmint. Just like Trebor Snave, I too am here to help.

Business Management was the closest for me. I'm on the Health, Safety & Environment team for a major oil gas service company, and specialize in radiation & explosive safety, with a strong sideline in driver safety & training.

That's the catch of IT. You have to be pretty smart to pick it up, but once you get the experience it's really not a challenge. That leads to boredom, augh. So, then you want to change, but the pay makes it difficult to leave.

I chose 'scientific,' but both that and 'medical' apply to my job. I'm a biotech manufacturing engineer for a division that makes diagnostic medical devices. It's not strictly medical, like a nurse or doctor, but it's not just a scientific engineering discipline, either.

Software engineering. Not really web design/IT, but I picked it since it seemed closest, and I sometimes do IT work.

Probably should have picked business "areas" instead of specific jobs.

I'm a software developer, but DO NOT consider "real" software development "IT" and its not web design. I chose scientific as it seemed the closest match.

Real software development is an art form, had this conversation with a painter once, started at 10PM and 7am and after 12 beers he finally agreed with me, I had skipped the beers, I had a class at 9am. Those were the days, when you could pull an all nighter and still be conscious in the morning, now I need to sleep all day before I can do it again..

I started in the IT industry in 1977 as a keypunch operator entering code and data onto 80 column cards. Worked my way up to what I am now...a systems engineer.

All throughout my career I've been on my ass more than on my feet...no wonder I'm way overweight .

I voted medical - even though it's not human medical. The patients I nurse are birds, reptiles, and small mammals. (Many times easier to deal with than the human patients )
