All summer I was getting up at about 5 AM and getting 15-17 mile rides in 2 to 3 times during the week before work and a longer ride on Saturday. I am really missing those mid-week rides. For the last 4 weeks or so I have only been able to get out for one ride a week on Saturday mornings (alternating between 35 & 50 mile rides). It's just too dark to get out in the morning (I have to drive my daughter to school) and it's starting to get too dark by the time I get home to get out for an hour ride (although, I still might be able to sneak a couple of those in if I sneak home a little earlier).
Luckily, earlier this summer, I won the grand prize in a fitness contest at work (I logged enough miles to be eligible for the grand prize drawing). I won $750 to be used for fitness equipment. Well, last Friday I finally got the prize and it was $750 of gift cards to performancebike.com. So I ordered me a Travel Trac RealAxiom V3 trainer.
I'd have never bought one of these on my own...I'd have gone cheaper. But hey, can't argue with free!!
It is supposed to be arriving today. I am so excited to be able to get some mid-week training in again while still doing the long rides on Saturday.
I have been making a concerted effort to eat healthier the last month or so (although the last week was bad...) and have been still steadily dropping about a pound every week or two. I weighed in at 204 last Sunday, so...I think now with this extra boost in training that 5 pounds should be off in two or three weeks max. It will be fun to be sub 200 again. I started out at about 250 and have been gradually decreasing over the last 10 years or so (you can see I'm in no hurry ). I would like to try to be down to about 170 by next May so I can fairly fly up the hills around here . That would be about a pound a week. I think this new trainer will help me acheive that goal and my milage goals the rest of this year and into next year.
Can't wait to hook it up and get going!
