Ran across this article on what a bicycle friendly city looks like.

If you view the book on Copenhagen, we should have bike lanes on major streets, and I'm all for that, imagine, biking along Sheppard to Yonge, and then down Yonge street to church! I'm waiting for the Portland film to come across, so I can watch it...

Okay, to bring this on topic, I wonder how many 120kg+ Clydes there are in Denmark?

I had a short 6mo stay in Denmark back in the early '90s. I was 245 at the time and the family I lived with said that cyclist had the right of way over all others and from the way the motorists AND pedestrians behaved when a cyclist was on the road with them made me believe it was the truth and not just a "joke" they were playing on the American ;)

We, the girl I was dating and I, road everywhere and crossed the country a few times, takes about 8hrs non stop with all the ferryboat trips you need take. Add in sightseeing and it can get a bit long.

Funny story, we were out riding one day and about 25mi into the ride and moving at a good clip, this old guy, ohhh, about 65 or 70, is drafting off my gf's wheel on a hybrid with a bag of groceries in the basket. I drop back and grabbed his wheel. He moves out, pass the GF and realy takes off. I jump on his wheel and we are now covering ground pretty damn quickly. I move out and go flying by him on a descent. I am thinking to my salf, "Haha old man!!". Well, I turn to look and he is there with a smile on his face and the next thing I hear is **click, ziip** and he left me as if I ran into a brick wall.

At one rest point we walked into a shop and I asked if they new the guy and they said he was some old time racer who won a world championship or two back in the day. Wish I could remember his name though.

Needles to say I was humbled for a few hours. ;)

Maybe, but on the good side, the feel of competition likely brought him a good bit of happiness for the day. He got to do some drafting and attack for the win, like he did when he was younger and in his prime.

I biked Denmark back in the late summer of 1990 on the same bike I'm riding now. Great country to ride in, the cities (not just Copenhagen) are very safe to ride in and town to town riding was a lot of fun too.
