Thanks for the compliments. Tom I kinda followed your lead. I had the Trek 7.5 for about almost 3 months then I fell (not as bad as your fall). Fortunately my body saved the bike

Believe it or not, I actually cleaned it with baby wipes prior to the photo shoot. I strangely picked a weekend that the woman was gone. Of course when she saw the pics, she hit me upside my head anyway.
As to storage, I picked up one of those Ultimate Storage Rakks. My shrine area of the basement is getting crowded. I have all my Ferrari Formula 1 items, my racing kart, and now my Tarmac. If I keep spending at this rate, I'll be sleeping on that couch. . . . Hence the baby wipes!!!!

You people with your new bikes are making me jealous! I bought my mountain bike 20 years ago, my first touring bike 15 years ago, and I just bought a new tourer - an LHT. Now I want a new mountain bike and a new road bike (for centuries, fast day rides, etc.) My wife doesn't think I'll need another new bike for another 10 years or so. Aargh!!

Yahr...I won't be able to get a new bike until my wife gets wood floors. That's going to be a while. Guess I just better settle in to what I got for a while.

Thanks Adrien. . . . I hadn't even thought of that. She is already very jealous of the karting. If she starts thinking about the bike that way . . . it might put her over the edge. Fortunately I planned for a fall back just in case. I gave her my three month old 07 Trek 7.5 Disc. This replaced the 20 year old Trek 950 that she was riding. You don't think she would bite the hand . . .

I knew everyone would rip on me for the reflectors and spoke protector. I'm just getting used to biking again. I've never had a bike that cost this much before so I'm gun shy on changing things. They really don't bother me. I figure when I upgrade the wheels and tires that I will no longer be a newbie. I guess I still have that don't want to void the warranty mentality. Give me some credit. . . I went from a 07 Trek 7.5 Disc to a 07 Specialized Tarmac Comp in three months. I just hope that biking doesn't consume me to the degree that my karting has. I will definately need another full time job.

No worries. Removing the reflectors won't void your warranttee so get them off of there. That bike is way to sexy to be riden like that.

biking may well consume you as much as karting. I used to be big into the autox scene, and had a great miata.

I keep reading several posts about people complaining about Specialized tires. I don't know where or how these people ride but I haven't had any problems (yet). I guess I'll just leave the rims and tires for the trainer and bad weather days. I like the look of Zipp wheels but not the price tag. Any tire and wheel suggestions?
I've been racing karts for 31 years now and don't feel like stopping anytime soon. I race just short of the national level all over the midwest. My lady would kill me if I took up another $12K/year hobby.
