what seats do you guys use
i ride road on a carbon fuji and i cannot seem to find a comfortable seat. the factory seat i put over 400 miles before i decided to start trying other seats and making sure it wouldn't break in any further. on other seats i have put in probably 100-200 miles before now but now im getting frustrated that they are killing my butt. i have cycling shorts which makes things better but it doesn't solve the issue. tomorrow im gonna put my factory seat back on for my ride on Monday. ill be riding 65-75 miles and after 40 -50 i feel like im getting tortured . hopefully you guys can give some insight.

Terry Fly was great right out of the box, of course I was only 220lbs. Did 23 centuries and 7300 miles that year without any saddle issues.
I used a Selle Italia Gel saddle, paid $95. Hated it. After a 1,000 miles was still rock hard. Gave it to a friend free of charge. Just get it out of my life!

well im going to retry my first saddle since that was the most comfortable to what i have compared it to and see what happens. if im still unhappy ill try what mr beanz suggested with the terry fly seat. im confident about the fit. i dont think what was helping me was i was trying out some light weight seats. i definitely learned they can be uncomfortable especially for a guy my size, which is why i was asking u guys. i just need a fresh look in what i want for a seat.

I'm riding a specialized toupe which solved the numbness issues, thank god, but its killing my sit bones. I might have to try a different saddle in the near future.

I've seen the Terry Fly at the shops for $100. But I usually get mine at Performance when they go on sale for $59. Timing I guess!

Specialized Alias 143 here. Specialized Body geometry has worked well for me. I went through 3 saddles before I found the right one. Hopefully you LBS has a good exchange policy.

Yup, Peformance mentioned when I bought the Fly that I could take it back within a couple of weeks if I didn't like it. Remember, everyBODY likes sumthin' different!

I've been partial to this one. I commute on it and I've been very happy. Got lucky since this was only the third one I tried...
cant post pic....Guess that makes me a luddite?
Anyway the seat is a WTB Speed V comp...

I use a sprung brooks clone. It's a narrow saddle @135mm wide. Talk about comfrt though!
The biggest key to saddle being right is width and angle. Get your sit bones measures with the Specialized Butt-o-meter.

I use the one that came on my HardRock. It doesn't give me any issues for my rides but I am only doing around 35 and not 60, 70, etc at a time.

My saddle, on the bike
and this is a close up. It looks like an asshatchet, but it's amazingly comfortable!

I use the specialized alias 155. I love the Body Geometry saddles, they are really comfortable for me and work quite well. I've put the BG saddles on all 3 of my bikes

I have a Fuji (carbon) Pro. The geometry will not allow a Brooks B-17 to fit. Using a seatpost with max offset, I have a Brooks Swift on this bike.

Brooks B17 on my touring bike, WTB speed V on my mtb, Selle San Marco Rolls on one fixie, Selle Italia Octavia on the other. The Brooks is the only one I'd like to sit on for more than a hour. The WTB seems decent so far, then again I'm out of the saddle for most of the time on that bike.

I use the Specialized Avatar Gel 155mm. I went through several saddles before I stumbled on to it. I have it on all my bicycles now.
It can literally be a pain to find a saddle that works best for you.

Finding the right saddle must be the worst part of shopping for bike stuff. I started with a Terry Ti Liberator, beautiful for 50 miles, shear agony past 55 miles.
I went to a Specialized Toupe Gel 143. My sit bones are still recovering. However, I really loved this saddle when I was climbing, it's like it disappeared.
I wound up with a Specialized Alias 155 and it seems to be doing the trick so far, up to 120 miles/8 hours in the saddle. I may never go that far/long again, so I think I'm good. Feels clunkier than the toupe, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Ride it like you stole it
I had the same problem with the Toupe Gel. Was only good for 50 miles or less, then sit bones start to hurt. It is now relegated to Tandem duty. Using a Selle Italia Thork, so far longest ride has been 60 miles, no discomfort, no numbness. I have about 150 miles on the saddle so far.

The WTB Speed V series of seats are very good. I had one on a Fisher MTB that I sold a couple of years ago, and I stupidly let the WTB seat that was on it, go with the bike. At the time, I thought that I was going to be riding recumbents exclusively, so I let it go. Now that I'm coming back to diamond frames, I wish I still had it. Oh well, guess I'll just have to buy another one. It was, by far, the most comfortable seat that I rode when I was doing off-road riding.

i tried the alias 143. like others said, my sit bones are still recovering lol. but i have put my stock seat back on and its considerably better than the other seats i tried but after 50 miles or so i was rather uncomfortable. i have gone through this with my mountain bike in years past. i have a wtb on it and i love it. i can be on it 4-5 hours no problem. but then again, i am sitting much more upright. thanks for all the suggestions.

Selle Anatomica Titanico w the Clydesdale option and treated leather. If you get one, don't bother without getting both the clydesdale version and the treated leather.

I've got a B-17 on my commuter (rigid frame/fork Stumpjumper) and a some sort of Bontrager racing saddle on my PDG Series-5 (KT might be able to clear up which model it is, since I got it from him.) They're both equally comfortable for the type of riding that the bike gets put through. I wouldn't want the B-17 on the PDG due to the forward positioning that I take on the saddle, and I wouldn't want the Bontrager on the commuter because it's more of an upright ride.
