out for my first long winter bike ride today and have come to realize that i need to get some glasses to keep that cold wind out of my face.

thing is i have a "wide face" and most glasses that i try on dont fit at all.

has anyone come across the same situation and has found some shades that fit?

I have a pair of optic nerve that I bought that do a good job. My head measures over 24" round to give you an idea of the size of my nugget. They were the Censor series from them.

oakley m-frame with heater style lense - at least it works for me. Small lenses/glasses just don't fit.

I have the same problem. My head isn't that big but my face is wide. When shopping for eyeglasses, I'm usually limited to a handful of frames that fit me.

I have an old pair of Briko stingers that I absolutely love. The optics are as good as Oakley and a lot more durable.

The euro look is a drawback if you want to buy an all-purpose pair of shades. In other words, Brikos look stupid if you're not decked out in spandex, wearing a helmet and bike shoes.

The best thing to do is spend a day driving around trying different glasses so that you have a rough idea of what is going to work for you.

I love my wiley SG-1 glasses. I had major pain issues with most sunglasses I tried and Wileys were the only ones that fit the bill. However, they are kind of goggle style and do steam up bad in this cold weather. I'm finding them great in good weather, but not so great in rain and/or cold weather.

I would recommend the wiley x pt-3 or pt-1's.. The pt1's have a slightly wider profile than the pt-3's.. This place has the best deal online..

Cool...I might have to look into those myself. From my current ones, I'm a huge fan of Wiley-X sunglasses. I did check and found them cheaper on Ebay...same as my SG-1 glasses. First pair I bought I paid like $150 for. Then I found I could snag them on Ebay for about $40. I ended up buying 2 more pair (one bike, one driving, one backup).

I found those PT-3 glasses on ebay (with 3 lens sets) for $30ish.
The PT-1 glasses (standard 2 lenses) for $30ish bid or $40 "buy it now".

If you have a real wide head the pt-1's have a nicer fit, the pt-3 have a little more fitted feel to them but both are wider than Oakley M frames..

I wear glasses and found that Cocoons really work for me. They go over existing glasses and I have a really large head. Just a thought.

The Cocoons look like the ones on my link. They are a very good buy at 2 for $35. Not that much of a fashion statement, though. I too have a large head. That's because I have a giant brain.

Werewolf, My Cocoons are, at least I think, different. I paid 39 dollars a pair for my Cocoons. They are great for driving and so many other activities. I actually think they look pretty neat! I have have three pairs and they are the greatet hting since sliced bread.

Have you tried the thewrap arounds from dioptics? Are they a hard or soft plastic? Just curious.

Nah, I got the giant "fits over" ones. I think the wraparounds look more cool, but those giant fit overs are real comfortable an give me good peripheral vision and protect my eyes from dust from all directions and have no distortion - all much better than my much more expensive sunglasses. I use them for driving, too, and of course if you wear prescription glasses (which i don't) you can wear them underneath. The part that fits over the ear is made of a soft flexible plastic, so it doesn't dig into my head like a lot of sunglasses do.

I wear Native Nano 2's. Very wide interchangeable (sp?) wraparound lenses, and they came with 4 sets of lenses: Clear, Yellow, Orange, and polarized (dark brown).

That's actually what I was starting to look for (back a few years ago) when I ended up getting the Wiley-X SG-1 sunglasses. They double as goggles (ear pieces snap off and a goggle strap can snap on).

All of the polarization and shading is done between two layers of polycarb. Oakley puts their coating on the outside of the lens.

I like the specialized, but bottom line is a balclava or hood will help more

i have Bolle Vigilante 2's.....don't know if they still make them, though. I have a pretty large head and these work fine

I always have the same problem with sunglasses sizing. I've had good luck with these.

I had some Arnette Catfish for about 3 years, and I loved them. I wear a size 8 1/4 hat for some reference.

I just ordered the PT-3's because they looked wider than the 1's in the pictures. Hope I didn't make a mistake. I got tired of the ones I was wearing, mentioned above, because they are too ugly. I think you are right about that place having the best deal. I couldn't find any place better.
