Is anyone running 28's on their DT Swiss RR 1.1's?
Just curious, I'm seriously considering these over Deep V's but I'm worried that DT's spec sheet says the max tire width should be 700x25c. I'm ~230 and I think I'd need 28's. Even Open Pros can take 28's.

check Sheldon's site for max tires by rim width.
Also -- ome tires run small. My conti ultra gatorskins are 28s but more like other folks' 25s.
Why no deep Vs? I love them.

I have run 25's on mine with no issues.. I do not see why you could not use 28's on them.. I have run up to 32's on my open pros..
I really think the rr 1.1 are in a class by themselves as a great underappreciated rim.. I have sets of open pros and deep v's and found the rr 1.1 as light as open pros with the same lateral stiffness of the deep v's.

I'm not answering for the OP, but for myself - I am looking at these rims, some Deep V's and also the DT RR 1.2s. The RR 1.1s are a heck of alot lighter than Deep Vs which is their appeal to me, and most reviews lead me to believe they'd be a good rim for a clyde.

Adrien, what size presta valve stem are you using for your deep v's? I've been getting my tubes from Price Point and their normal stems are 35mm, but did not know if I needed to get the 55mm stems when I get my DV's.

Wow, I should pay attention. I don't mind Deep-V's really, I just don't think they would look good on the bike I want to put them on. I'd prefer to keep them a lower profile if I can. I've also heard about quality control issues with Velocity's rims, although not recently.

For deep v's you will need at least 48mm stems and standard length PV come up a little short..
The rr 1.1 is a great rim for a clyde.. It has a little deeper profile over an Mavic Open pro but not as deep as the Velocity Deep V.. I found that it is as laterally stiff as the deep v but much lighter overall rim.. I have about 1000 miles on mine with only 1 minor true to the rear rim..

I go from 220-245 depending on training. I run 23's with no problems at all with Deep V's (30mm profile rims), have for over 45,000 miles. 25's would be fine, why do you need 28's?

I am at 255-260 and have run deep bontragers with 32 no problem. I think the 28 gatorskins would be fine.
