What are your goals for 2008?
Yeah, I know its not yet even Christmas. But I'm trying to get myself motivated to improve my life/lifestyle. I've been without abike for a while now. But in preparation for picking my newly build up Giant OCR 3 frame(105 derailers, Tiagra shifter, Reynolds solitude Wheels, FSA Gossamer Compact Crank) next week, I figured a good way to help keep me on track with my bike and wieght loss goals would be to put it out publicly.
So here are my goals:
1) Loose 40 pounds (gets me under 190).
2) Ride 2,000 miles - this is huge for me as I've never gotten over 750 in a year for various reasons
3) Ride 3 centuries
What are your goals for the next year?

Century on the day that I turn 50. Piece of cake for me now but it was a goal that was in serious doubt when I first starting riding again.
Otherwise just ride and have fun...which should get me north of 6,000 miles again for the year.

I've lost 20 lbs so far, with about 20 to go, which gets me to around 190-195.
Fix my finances.
Keep commuting year round. (I already am so far)
Get back into racing next summer.
This year is setting my mileage for next years goals.

I'm going to try to log more miles on my bike than on my car again this year, although that's going to be tough if I have to drive into work next semester.

I'm torn between deciding if I want to do more centuries, or if I want to try to convince my husband that he wants to do any centuries.
I think I am going to work on more centuries for me. Plans are to go to the NAHBS in Portland in February, and then to the Cinderella Classic in March. Perhaps even the Cinderella Challenge in March .
One of these days I need to do the STP, but have never found it feasible with my work schedule...

Century on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, June 14th, in sub 6 hrs
A Triple Century later in June in a day, trying to beat the speed record for North border to South border of Indiana.
Some touring over the Summer as well.
Basically, ride a lot of miles

I think we should coordinate century schedules, so we've both got somebody to ride with. I don't know about my making it to NAHBS in February, tho. I'm doing the Chilly Hilly as a century ride starting from Redmond, and might not be up for a Portland trip in the same month.

I have trips, projects, and things I'd like to do. Nothing with a number (ok everything has it's costs) per se.
A 3 week motorcycle trip with the Tour of Colorado in the middle.
A Triathlon, preferably one Olympic distance.
Enough racing to upgrade.
And generally, be a better, healthier, wealthier, faster person.
My weight and mileage counts are both fine, but there's always room for improvement.

All firsts:
century
olympic traithlon
marathon
I also hope to do some more sprint triathlons, and some other fun group rides.
I don't have any mileage goals, but I really hope to be in the thousands.
My main goal is to get down to 220 (I'm 265 right now). I want to eventually get lower, but let's start with 220, and see where we go from there.

Mostly, I'm going to stick with last years goal which was to keep riding and having fun on my bike.
Here are a few tangibles:
- 4800 miles (it's a 20% bump from 2007)
- Mulholland Challenge (110 miles, 12,000 feet, 12 hour time limit, I plan on finishing last)
- Sea to Summit (87 miles, 12,000 feet, again I plan on finishing last)
- Grand Tour Double Century (not so climby, so not interested in finishing last)
- Raise funds / donate $10,000 for various charities
If I do those, I'll lose weight, but that's not a specific goal this year.

1) Complete a century in less than 6 hrs and as close to 5 hrs as possible. 2) Finally break the 200 lb. barrier and make it to 175lbs. 3) Reduce my weekly beer consumption............. Maybe if I can do #3, #1 and #2 will fall into place!!
