I realize that I'm a latecomer to the party, but I would really like to participate in this. Can I get a PM with the info on joining?

Thanks,

05/24/08 Good Week Bad Week:
Posted 301 miles.
Hot and Humid.
Right Hooked on the 85 mile Friday in a group of 4 bikes.
Second in line ( on the shoulder) at an intersection the light had just turned green when a small black pick up turned into me. I also turned right to miss the truck. No contact made and I was lucky to have pavment to ride on. Later in the ride ( S on Hwy 6 Santa Fe) we heard and then saw 5 emergency vehicles.
After getting home read that 17 y/o high school male was killed walking down Tower Rd by another
student driving a truck.
Good News Now weigh under 200 lbs.

This week was supposed to be the big riding week of my holidays, and I barely got in 23 miles, the weather was the absolute PITS at the beginning of the week, same pattern as last week, first it was too cold, then it was too cold and wet, then we had a 40km/h wind all day, gusting to over 50km/h Thursday......

Anyone else notice that the spread sheets dates are off, January and February it was Saturday, March, April and May it's Sundays Date.. There are actually 5 Saturdays in May......

The spreadsheet is updated for my distance though....

Week ending yesterday or today - doesn't matter since I won't have a chance to get any riding in until tomorrow...

110 miles (at least 30 of it into killer headwinds - do I get extra credit? )

102.6 miles this week (mostly commuting) with about 4200 feet of climbing. Enjoyed a small group ride this morning with LordBass, who showed me some great new roads I hadn't ridden before.

Looks like everyone is doing quite well......

I have a big fat goose egg again. I still hope to get a ride in this week.I'm getting ready to break in a training partner, and the easy pace will help me heal.

Had my first big crash last week. It was Tuesday afternoon on the commute home. Equipment failure, bike crash, go over handlebars. Thankfully nothing in me was broken, but my comfy commuter is bent beyond repair. I'm sad, it was just running great. But better me in good shape than the bike. There are plenty of other rides.

Still got in 66 miles this week, with a great loop ride Sunday with zpl. We were slow enough to enjoy the scenery as we passed.

Ouch! Frame is trashed, or just the fork and front wheel?

Having done a OTB twice (not bad when you consider I started riding in 1965 ), once due to a ditch that was hidden in some grass, and once due to mechanical failure, I gotta ask, what is damaged on the bike? Unless it ended up under the wheels of a truck afterwards, I can't think of much in a OTB experience that would result in needing a replacement bike.

Mechanical failure lead to me not having enough brake power or time to turn away from approaching fenceposts in a narrow passage on my commute. The handbars hit the posts. The top and downtubes bent behind the head tube. I went OTB. A stupid accident. But could have been much worse. No trucks involved.

In the meantime the surrogate commuter will be my 1986 Bridgestone 500, but have been hoping to find a nice 80s Univega or Schwinn for commuter duty. I've got the C&V bug for steel Japanese bikes.
