New Ride
Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday to me!
To celebrate the fact that I just turned 50
and have lost 55+ pounds so far....
No scratch that. Basically I got my new ride because I have been saving my pennies and just plain wanted a road bike. My new pride and joy is an Orbea Onix Dama - Campy Centaur components, Mavic Aksium wheels. And of course...can't forget at least one bird accessory.
I may not be so fast... but I sure FEEL fast on this bike.

Hey - the racks are on my Trek commuter (See picture on Clyde/Athena Trek Bikes post) - along with my birdie bento box and parrot horn .

[QUOTE=conurejade;5904540]I'm just jealous because as Sasquatch, I'd destroy something that light. (The Orbea) It really is teh hawtness. I had my eye on a full carbon rig before deciding to replace my commuter and distance bikes with just one new one to do double duty.

[QUOTE=CliftonGK1;5904602]Hey, I had concerns too. Even after a relatively big weight loss - well, let's just say I'm still a LONG way from leaving the Athena class. I emailed Orbea regarding weight limits and their reply was - "No problem" - they said there were no weight limits for their frames and there is a lifetime guarantee against frame failure. I've heard good things about the Mavic Aksium wheels but we'll see how well they stand up. If there's wheel problems, my LBS will help me make it right. BTW, my LBS, FatCat Bicycles in Lake Worth, FL rocks. We changed out most of what came originally on the bike since I wanted Campy, and the bike ended up at a much better price to boot. The only thing left to do immediately is change the handlebars out - probably going to go with Salsa Short & Shallow bars so my 'girlie hands' can reach the brakes better in the drops.

Senegals are really neat birds. The conure in my avatar is Jade, my half-moon conure; I have 2 African greys and an Amazon as well. I love the birdies as you can also tell from the bird accessories on my bikes.

Congrats on the weight loss 1st. With that, comes more energy and flexibility, which leads to more riding.
And congrats on the new bike, its a beaut. I am sorta of in the same boat, I turned 50 in Aug. I already had a couple of bikes but I wanted a roadie, so I went out and bought one last Saturday and manged to get 12 miles on it that day. Now all I need to do is lose some weight, lol.
Big wheels keep on spinnin.
