First ride in a month and a half :0
*Disclaimer: ;) I have been going to a cycling class all winter, boring and fun all at the same time.*
Today it was 50 degrees F here in Ohio, so I dusted off my bike, and hopped on, it was soooo great, I've been staring longingly at my bike since it started snowing here. I only went 3 miles but it was enough to get me a mini high. Can't wait til spring. Just wanted to share. :) |
Roads here are too wet and salty for me to trash my bikes on....
I'm stuck with the trainer for now. :( |
We hit mid-60s today. Broke a record! Rode 37 miles, of course. :)
|
I've done nothing! My bike scares me right now....

Slackers! All of you!
...and me too. |

I rode 22 miles today. :) It was windy, but shirtsleeve weather, so I was out in my Underdog T-shirt and shorts.
But, a couple of general observations. One is, I've learned that I can always find reasons not to exercise. Its either too cold or too hot or too windy or too wet or something. But, you just have to do things anyway. Secondly, we lived in Colorado for 5 years, and I got started hiking there. The park where I hiked a lot for exercise also had mountain bike trails, which were pretty popular. But once it snowed a half inch you didn't see any more mountain bikes until spring. You might have marvelous weather, no ice on the ground, but it was the "wrong season", so no bikes (and not many hikers) were out. Here in the Dallas area, it is similar in summer when it gets hot. My point is, look for opportunities, get proper clothing, and you'll find yourself out doing things when 95% of the other outdoor-types are sitting in front of the tube. |
Well done to each of you!Winter is very tough to keep exercising and any is better than none. I do alot of hillwalking here all year round so I am lucky enough in that respect! Not much cycling though. I don't like the trainer much:(

I just got on the bike after a 3 week hiatus. Noodles after about 20 minutes. http://fwc493.250free.com/8/BulletWeep_A.gif

I'll carry that slacker flag! sadly enough! WOW... my exercise went from almost Daily to once or twice a week!!!! :( I can tell BIGTIME!! already gained a bit back... Irritating myself ahhaha... but its on! I worked to hard for this!!

You guys have almost shamed me into getting back on my bike...
Almost. I really need to get out there. |
Just over a week ago I stepped out on to my back deck, on to an invisible patch of ice and did 1/4 of a back flip landing on my right hip. Two days later, when I couldn't even stand my wife called an ambulance and off to the ER I was.
Nothing broken but riding is out right now (as is too much walking, or sitting, or laughing...) but I'm using the time to build myself a new rear wheel. BTW, a quick plug for acupuncture here. What a miracle! C. |
