Former Athena!!!

I just wanted to leave a post in here saying that for the last two years of Tri's, I have been over 200lbs. In '06 I was creeping up on 250lbs, and last year I was about 204lbs.

This year I am in with the general admission weighing in at 171lbs! Still not where I want to be, but enjoying the journey to get there...now if I could just get out of the 70's and down to the 60's...lol

Oh! And this year...no more tri's!!!!! I'm the Du-Girrrrrlllll...

Congrads!! That is quite the accomplishment. You should be very proud - but not proud enough to quit!

I wish you the very best success in the coming year and every year to follow!

Peace,

Dean

I thought the Athena class starts somewhere around 145-160'ish. The Clydes start at 200lbs.

Actually...I'd like to know what the real "standards" are for Athena/Clydesdale classification. I'm running a local 5k on April 13th, and I entered as an Athena in the 155-169lb division (although I may end up in the 145-154lb division by race day). Here is how they classify the different weight divisions, according to the online registration form:

Clydesdale Weight Groups (5K Run only)

Open (age 39 and younger) and Masters (age 40 +) divisions.

Group Women Men
A 135-144 170-184
B 145-154 185-199
C 155-169 200-224
D 170+ 225+

Required race-day weigh-in between 7:30 a.m. - 9:35 a.m.
Clydesdale runners must weigh-in at least 15 minutes before the start of their event.
This is an official weigh-in for anyone participating in the 2008 CARA Clydesdale Circuit.

edited: Sorry I can't get the weight table to space correctly...I tried 3 times and it keeps jamming everything together...hope it's understandable.

Forgot to say...Congrats to "Misadventures" on the weight loss! By the way...I hope it's ok that I post here in this forum...even though I'm not technically an "Athena" by the forum's definition. I was there at one point, not too long ago...so I still feel very connected to folks that are struggling to get their weight down. I often look in the mirror and still see my "old heavier self", so I truly can relate.

Apparently Athenas in the cycling world start at 150 pounds, regardless of height.

Misadventures and nscrbug, congratulations both of you!

I hang out here because I used to be an Athena as well. It's so easy to creep back up there...these guys keep us motivated!

Yes, I know I was racing in the wrong class...I didn't know the rules, and someone at my first event quickly let me know...so for 2 years I thought I was working toward leaving the Athena category...and just a few months ago (when reading series notes) I learned of my mistake.

Felt like the. biggest. idiot. ever.

Will post pics tomorrow!!!!

Photos...alright, please bear with me. This is my first time posting photos in a forum.

The superfat photos are hidden away somewhere, but the ones I can share begin in 2006.

Photo #1
December 31, 2006 - 215lbs, having lost just less than 30lbs - yes, I was a smoker. Gotta love the slab of beef on my shirt...

Photo #2
April 2007 - 200lbs - Taken at an event I was working. My claim to fame is Kevin MacKinnon...rofl He's in the photo so you can see how big I am in comparison.

Photo #3
June 2007 - 195lbs

Photo #4
August/September '07 - 185-190lbs

These are the most current shots I have. I am currently coming in at 171lbs.

And now I wish I could go and blur my face out of every photo. What kinda girl shares her weight for the world to read? Yowza!!!

I'll update this thread when I have better photos to show...

Kevin MacKinnon
I have a couple of his books...they help me in keeping the kids active. Also, I believe he is currently the coach of the Hamilton Hammerheads...aka PowerHouse Kids Unite...lol He was at an event last year giving out awards and such...so think he might be some kind of *Kevin of All Trades*.
