I unfortunately decided to try my first 20 mile ride on Easter Sunday. I only had 13 mph winds, but they were direct head winds for the first 10 miles. I really thought I was going to quit every stroke for those ten miles, then I turned around for the ride home and boy was that fun. My second ten miles was actually 4 minutes faster than the first.

42 miles at 17.3 average. Nasty headwind to the coast. Rolled at 20 mph for quite sometime without a turn of the pedals. Not too bad on the return. Nice and warm here, looks chilly overthere!

You know it's a cold ride, when you put warm water in your insulated water bottle, and it's frozen before you get home.... Sounds like you get my weather, ride North for 5 miles, into a nasty head wind, turn East into a nasty head wind for 5 miles, turn South into a nasty head wind for 5 miles, then turn West into a nasty head wind for the ride home, where your face is frozen into a nasty grimace from being cold so long. I think the next time I go for a below freezing ride, I will forgo the helmet for the full face hunting balaclava, that things thicker then the helmet, it's a double layer of thick yarn with a felt face piece, has a hole for mouth and another for each eye, add the winter jacket with a thick hood and your ready for anything, even without the helmet. I don't hunt, but have been out hiking with that thing on, at -18℃/0℉ and been toasty warm, warmer then I was during last Saturdays ride when wind chill factor made it feel like -10℃.....

Easter....discovered there is a Bike Route that comes near my house and goes to White Rock Lake in Dallas. So I went. 27 or 28 miles including the loop around the lake. High 50's, bit of a breeze but not too bad, good shorts and long-sleeve-tee day.
