First Metric Century!

Just got back from the "Spring Fever" ride in Sulphur Springs, Texas, where I did my first-ever Metric Century. And yes, my legs are tired. And no, I didn't win the race. (It's actually a race, but that only matters for the fast people in front, otherwise, it's just a ride). 66 miles, about 4:50 total time. (Edit: Checked the speedometer just now, it shows 4:30 ride time, 14.7 mph average speed). With all the cookies and stuff at the rest stops, I'm not sure if I lost weight or gained it in the process. The course wasn't too hilly, but had some long barely-sloping areas coupled with winds that were enough to slow me down on a good bit of the course.

Based on the width that those tires look and the average speed, consider me impressed. Good job!

A single speed, I really hope the course was really flat, or all down hill.

GREAT JOB!!!

Jeeze, got you on a lightweight road bike and you'll be doing double imperial centuries

I am truly impressed!

Great job. And on such a heavy bike too. I'm looking forward to trying my first metric in the summer.

Well done StephenH. Now I feel like a wussy-boy for wimping out and doing the 41mi route on my carbon fiber Fuji Team Issue, regardless of the flat I had 9mi in! I do recognize the bike, but I don't remember exactly where I saw, it, be at the start, one of the rest stops, or at the end, or a number of those. Think I managed to give myself a cold yesterday as I've had a sore throat and other symptoms since the end of the ride yesterday. None the less I just got back from getting some of those miles I cut short yesterday.
