TLC "I Can Make You Thin" broadcast series
I have seen a couple of the "I Can Make You Thin" broadcasts on TLC by Paul McKenna. He says forget diets and change your thinking about food. He seems to have had quite a bit of success with some people who used food as a comfortable stress reliever and for other emotional reasons. I understand what he advocates is usually classified as neuro-linguistic programming (NLP).
Does anyone have his book by the same name? Has anyone been watching any of the series? What do you think? |
I've seen some of the series, and he's dead on with most of it. I trust him more than 90% of the weight-loss and fitness gurus out their pimping their latest workout DVD and diet plans.

I have been trying his technique for stress relief since last night and it really seems to work. What he says makes sense and I have been incorporating a lot of it into my life.

I actually caught this while flipping through the channels last night. I thought it was kind of goofy and the woman he was working with didn't look as though she's lost a lot of weight although she had learned to improve her affect.

Yes I think I caught the same episode last night for a few minutes. Somehow this woman thumping her acupressure points to alleviate desires for food, or stress seemed odd to me. But I suppose it would serve as a distraction and maybe let an urge pass.
Yesterday after church someone sent me home with a full plate of cookies and brownies. It would not be uncommon for me to devour half of a dozen cookies or more during the afternoon. I tried the thumb and finger press technique from the new show for this week broadcast at 9 PM Eastern or 7 PM Mountain. I decided to have one cookie and the rest are now in the freezer where they will remain until my wife and I eat them only one or two at a time after regular meals over the next few weeks. Anyway, I am glad your comments so far are largely positive. |
Yeah, I doubt the accupressure has much to do with it. Seems like it's introducing a simple habit that prompts reflection.
On another note, what do you all think of these kinds of shows? Education or exploitation? |

On another note, what do you all think of these kinds of shows? Education or exploitation? Exploitation 2+2, buy my book "Math for Morons" for $129.95 for the answer. Note, there is a gray area between the two, that includes a lot of marketing... |
Who am I? Where did I come from? Why am I here? Where am I going? |
