First Road 10 Miler

I've been kinda lurking for a while and thought I would share my success. Its been 2 years since I've done any serious riding. I've set 3 goals this year, first to complete a 32 mile on the W&OD trail for the Tour de Cure, second is to ride the entire C&O Canal in 3 days by Fall and third is to lose 30 pounds and get under the Clydesdale Range. I started at 229lbs and have lost 9 lbs to date and my first ride was on Feb 24th.

Colder weather and a busy work schedule in WV has prevented me from doing any "serious" training, but I ride whenever I can get a chance. My first ride on Feb 24 was a 3 miler in 30 minutes, today I did my first 10 miler on the road, a few weeks ago I did a 10 miler on the C&O, but that's a whole lot easier than doing it on the road. I was able to do it in 47:23 and I did it without stopping for any breaks. Yahoo!!!

Great! 10 miles in WV is no joke, either. Bet you've met a few hills along the way.

Yeah, I'm pretty fortunate to live in a valley but even in the valley we have some pretty good hills, but I'm sure a lot of serious cyclists will call my hills little bumps. I did about 400 m in elevation during my ride.

Paco, it might be only around 1200 feet of rise, but I know how steep those WV hills are......

You can sell 2 acres for the price of one there, because the other acre is the backside of the first acre

Very nice. Congratulations.

Incidentally I'll be riding in the area in the first week of June on a ride from Pittsburgh to DC. Perhaps I'll see you on the towpath.

Good job Paco! 10 miles is what I just got up to for my lunch rides. It still puts a hurting on me. Are you using a road bike or a mtn bike?

I followed up my 10-miler with an 11.2 miler this evening after work. Man I love daylight savings time. I do my riding with a plain jane Giant Cypress with a Specialized Avatar saddle. This saddle is awesome!!! Here's a picture with me and my cypress.
