Looks like mom will pull through.

Mom went under the knife today.

I couldn't be there, but the rest of the lusers were. Not that she was awake, aware, or is going to remember.

The Dr went in via laparoscope and was amazed by all the stuff she found in there. 12 inches of dead colon, complete with gangrene, Scar tissue from previous trouble with diverticulosis, fissures and fistulas, and one very large growth or something.

They're gonna send in part of it to see what it is.

Now she's resting and hasn't woke up yet, but she's breathing on her own. She's got a bag and a morphine drip, and they'll give her a bump button when she wakes. We'll be going to see her tomorrow.

All I can do now is pray.

Thank you all so much for your support,

RD

That sounds messy, RD. As Tom said, we will keep the good thoughts and positive energy going your mom's way.

Make sure you get enough rest yourself, we don't want the stress to kill you.

Glad to hear she is through the surgery. Remember that you have to take care of yourself to be able to be strong for her also.

Thank you all for your well wishes, I'm much obliged.

We're gonna go see her tomorrow, and then the lusers are gonna go the day after while I ride some more.

watched the Biggest Loser live finale tonight, no surprise, one of them blew a disk.

Then I spent some time teaching the young fella how to weld.

Tonight I'm up all night to go pick up my daughter from her overnight shift.

A few pots of coffee, season two of Alton Brown's Feasting on Asphalt, and a Ziplock steam bag of broccoli and reduced-calorie smoked sausage.

The sun will rise, I'll do my duty, get some sleep, then go see Mom.

Prayers going out for your mother… I hope everything works out well…

On a side note, that Feasting On Asphalt II with Alton Brown is a great show. When they are in Chester IL, near the Chester Bridge eating Spinach… They are big on Popeye down there I have been to that very park at least five times, and across the bridge into Missouri many times as well. My wife’s mother used to live in Chester IL, and her sister still lives just up the road. It’s a really nice area with the bluffs and the Mississippi river… Someday I really wouldn’t mind moving down to that area.

Well we were out to see her yesterday.

I didn't post until now because it's taken me that long to compose myself.

She is lost in her own world, vocal yet incoherent. She sees people but her responses are off-the-chart random.

It's not the pain meds because she's not on that much. She has been reduced in her Alzheimer's meds dosage and hasn't had her anti-depressant lately either.

She could come out of her dementia once her meds are up to strength, but she's been through a huge shock, and they won't say for sure. I know that this is how her Alzheimer's will wind up, but none of us were ready for it at this time.

We go again Friday.

Hi, RollerDave,
It's been a couple of days now - how's your mom doing? And how are you holding up? I hope you get the chance to ride at least a little bit this weekend.
