A little off topic...
Is BMXing a decent way to loose weight... ive been riding my BMX bike about 10-20 miles atleast 3-4 times a week i feel like im less depressed... Im usually stuck inside studying my chem or playing x box... the only activity's i do involve working on my car... I recently gained like 20 lbs... i started as 210 and now im down to about 202 after a little over a week of riding... i really wanna see 180lbs... you think it is at all possible from just riding a BMX bike... All of this is mostly trail riding... alot of loose sand... so its really a hard ride... Not sure if this is even the right place to post this...

If it involves cycling....of any kind, and weight loss, you're in the right place. No worries. Welcome to Clyde's
As far as the theory you present, the only flaw is that BMX is short, and very intense effort. For weight loss, what you want is longer term, lower intensity effort at about 65-70% of your max HR. I will say, however that a routine mixed between some endurance stuff and the BMX, you can get some serious periodization going in your routine, which is a good thing to avoid plateauing on weight loss from adaptation syndrome.

Sounds like you need a mountain bike AND a Road Bike You realize of course that the proper number of bikes to be owned is the current number you have + at least 1 or 2 more.
Different hammers for different jobs.
