Any big guys on Cross bikes?
I am looking to buy a Cross bike, first to ride, then maybe compete. I am currently a Clyde in the 275 pound area and was wondering if any of you at this size ride and more specifically if you have any problems with tire pressure. I have been trying out a bike, and making sure to keep the tires fully inflated, but I can't help but think that the rear tire looks a little low at times. Any thoughts or input. I don't want to necessarily be stuck with thicker tires as I ride a lot on streets, with only some paths.

What tires and what pressure are you running?
I think the stock cyclocross tires that came on my Jake had some ridiculous max pressure rating of something like 55psi. At 220-230, I ended up running 75psi offroad and 85 on. I'm running 35c panaracer passelas right now at 90psi, and at 205lbs, they look much better. I may actually go down to 80psi with them.

Thanks for the info.
Tire pressure seems to be my problem I guess. I have Ritchey Speedmax tires 700x32, and I am having trouble telling what the pressure is. I am new to the type of valves on these tires, and the new pump I bought for them is giving me trouble. I feel like I can't get air into them, but if the pressure gauge on the pump is right I've got them at 140 psi which can't possibly be correct.

I am riding a Specialized Tri-Cross at about 240 lbs. No problems at all. I have not even managed to bust a spoke yet, and I hit curbs all the time. I run the tire pressure at max listed on the wall, but I can not remember off hand what that max is. In the 85-90 PSI range I think.

I have a custom cross frame (second hand)
I run Mavic CXP-33 wheels
Run several different tires
for road a Panaracer 737 (700x37) at about 90psi, heavy but great for paved/gravel - very durable
Ritchey cross max 30s at 60-80 psi off road, gravel roads
Panaracer Cinder 35s at <40 for racing cross depending on conditions
I weigh 245, and the back tire on every bike I ride looks a little flat

If anything, it's certainly a stellar endorsement for the durability of the Redline Conquest.

6'2" 300lbs, Commute 30 miles a day on my Lemond Poprad Disc. No problems, not even with the low spoke count wheels. I run 700x32 Bontrager hardcase tires at 80psi.

+1 I have the same bike and also weigh about 225. Room for big tires, rack and fender attachments. I put 32c road tires on it in place of the knobbies. The gearing is great for the hills here in CO. The wheels don't have a lot of spokes (20/24 I think) is my only concern, but after 1500 miles no problems at all.
