If I did I wouldn't tell anyone. I would also try to pick routes
that would minimize my chances of running into others from
work that are "out sick too"

don't forget sunscreen. Nothing sucks more than showing up to work the next day with a sunburn... "Yeah, I was, uh, sick in bed all day.." Luckily not speaking from my own experience..

At work they were overstaffed for a while, and asking folks if they would like to take a personal day. The of course the vacation season started, three guys transferred out, and one quit, so now they are short staffed, and need to start hiring again........ I'm on vacation this week and next, think I feel guilty that they are short staffed, nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooope!

I called in to ride once and bumped into my boss who called in to go out for a ride.
Worked out well.....
We wound up just rescheduling for a midweek ride day after lunch. He figured he might as well.

It really depends on where you work too, where I work you have 5 "personal" days and possibly a float day (depending on what province you live in, some provinces have provincial holidays that don't exist in other provinces, so some folks get an extra day or two off so that employees across the country get the same number of days off). Looks like I may get a stat day too, as Monday is a legal holiday, but I am on vacation, so I get to take the holiday another time. Stats can be saved for years, personal days are paid out at the end of the year, and the float day needs to be taken by the end of the year. If I want to take a ride day on Monday, I can use a float, any saved up stat days, or a personal day. Sp far I used two personal days (actually sick). Nice thing is, if I give my boss at least 24 hours notice (so they can arrange to cover the shift), I I can use one of these days, and I don't need to feel guilty about it.

My boss rides bike, he actually commutes to work as much as he can and 2 other guys in my dept ride as well. We have done offsite meetings on bikes while riding the local rails to trails. I don't have any set hours and the higher ups don't mind if we take and hour or two at lunch time to go ride. As long as we make up the time at the end of the day or come in earlier it's OK with them. Now if I can just convince them that I can work while riding I would be all set. I do think up some solutions to issues at work while riding which I implement when I get back. That should technically qualify as work as opposed to riding, shouldn't it?

The one time I did that, a bee got stuck between my sunglasses and my face- I got stung about 1/4 inch from my eye. My eye swelled up to where I could only see out of half of it... it was swollen for a little more than a week. I told everyone that I got stung the day before and that's why I didn't go in... story of my life, I can't get away with anything!!!

I was going to pretend I had a burst pipe this morning, and spend the day on the bike. But I had a project I hadn't finished, so I came to work instead.
In two more weeks, I get to take Wednesdays off through September. That's my big ride day.

I had today off work for another reason and wasn't planning on getting out on the bike. As it happens I had time, and the weather was nice (although windy), and I'm sure you all know how you start to get twitchy when there's an opportunity to ride that you're missing out on....
I ended up going for a ride through some woodlands that are local to us - there's a gravel track that runs through the woods, which was interesting enough on slick skinny-ish tyres, but I managed to stay upright and had a great time. Uphill most of the way, then a headwind on the way back though - at least they help cancel each other out
Think I'm going to need another bike. Uhoh...
