My new LHT has arrived!!!

Just got back from the LBS, they opened at 10, I was there at 10:15 :D. My new 2008 Surly Long Haul Trucker "complete", with some minor mods. My beloved Brooks B-17 is on there, I added some of the Planet Bike full fenders with mudflaps, two bottle cages are installed with a third ready for longer rides, and a Planet Bike superflash is waiting to be installed :).

Here's the pr0n:

What image hosting site do you use? My school filter won't let me see the photo.

Awesome. I'm sure you're going to enjoy many many miles on that.

Are you experimenting with stem height for a little while before cutting the steerer?

badgermac 05-15-08 11:20 AM

I'm Majorly JEALOUS!

I was wondering how long it would take someone to notice! :D

Yup, I think it's perfect, but they aren't cutting it until I'm positive. I'm going to take 'er our for a nice long ride this weekend to make sure, but man it feels good as-is.

A very pretty bike, Ben. Now ride it outside and get it dirty. :)

I was very particular when I ordered my Cross-Check, and I spent 3 hours on the Serrotta fit cycle getting everything dialed in exactly right. Outside of that, you've gone with the best option by leaving yourself room to test and play around before chopping it. (No sense in getting such a nice bike and then having it end up uncomfortable because the steerer is too short.)

The steerer tube on my LHT appears to be cut off right about where the top of your stem is now. After this past weekend I've decided that I'm going to drop the stem down 1/2 inch or so. The LBS set it up for a relaxed geometry (for the old f@rt), but after about 750 miles I've stretched out enough that lower bars feel pretty good.
