Will I Ever Get to Ride?-Choice of Trike-'Bents
Well my quest for a sturdy "granny bike" ended up costing me more than it was worth- two clunkers off e-bay arrived in bashed up boxes w/ bearings rolling around inside- time invested 4 weeks/ money $300-and counting .. still nothing rideable w/out considerable work-
I'm an Uber- Athena-5'5"-350+ and giving up hope of riding a two wheeler or any bike any time soon...UNLESS I bite the bullet and "credit purchase " some sort of Trike
My choices are:
Worksman's PAV- (I've been told it is very slow but that I can't crush it)
Sun EZ- Two models- one has steering on top- one steers under- (both state 300 lb limit)
and my third (and most costly) Organic Engines Triclops- 400 lb limit- Never heard of them til now but they look cool-
I'm open to any and all suggestions - Thanks for listening b

Have you taken a look at Lightfoot?
I'm thinking that these will be worth the extra $ and weight for the ease in a non-upright trike.

Remember also, the stated weight limit is not an engineers limit, it's a lawyers limit.
50 pounds will be well within the unstated real limit.

'bents aren't a cureall because of "recumbutt": you're exercising with the same muscles your sitting on so they may not get enough oxygen and complain about it. Some of the trikes you've mentioned and the lightfoots are pretty upright so can be prone to it. I got recumbutt on more upright 'bents but am fine on more reclined ones. You can see all the choices available and find out more about the weight limit issue at bentrideronline.com. To make sure about the recumbutt issue you just need to go on a long test ride- at least 30 minutes. If you don't have a problem on that you'll be fine. It doesn't affect everybody.
I also agree with Tom Stormcrowe- if you go just 50# over the weight limit it's not likely to break.
Good luck!

As Tom said, most weight limits are lawyer limits, not engineer limits, so going a little over should be okay. If your looking at a credit purchase, then visit some bike shops, not only to look at trikes, but there are some good sturdy bicycles out there as well, for reasonable cost, and many manufacturers are starting to build womens models, which are designed a little different then mens models, and these changes are often more then just the step through frame of old.

Maybe There is hope afterall...RE: MEGA-BENT TRIKE
Thanks for all the feedback! I was so disgusted w/ my bike fiasco that I went to bed shortly after posting- and today is the first chance I had to get back on the Forums-
That Lightfoot looks interesting-
All you folks are really terrific-AND SMART( and of course- very handsome and beautiful..)
Once again...a tiny flame of hope flickers in the heart of the Uber Athena...(Violins anyone?)
Now all I need to do is find a dealer that will ALLOW me to try their bikes- they may run and hide them when they see me coming-
