Need some help... Choosing a bike!
Well looks like I have it narrowed down to 2 choices. It's seems that it will be the Trek 6500 D or the Merida tfs 500 D.
Now, here's where it gets tricky. I thought that Trek was made in the States but apparently they have factories in taiwan for asia. I was wondering if the bikes are built to the same specs as amercain bikes. The nice thing about the trek is that it comes with airshox.
Now I lke the look of the Merida better but looks don't count all that much. The thing is that the Merida comes with spring shox, Rockshox dart 2's to be precise, now will that support 367lbs or will they bottom out. Now I could upgrade the Merida to air shox but that would be another 350$. So at this point either bike will run me about 1150$. My LBS said that I could sell the rockshox on the net for about 200$ but he wouldn't trade them in cause they were standard on most bikes now and he would be stuck with them (does that sound normal, but remember I am in Korea, so...).
THe other problem is that all the frames in my area are aluminium. will it be stiff enough for a big boy like myself. Now I won't be hitting the Korean alps any time soon but I do like to rough house a little.
Thanks for all the help and looking forward to putting that picture up soon!

Aluminum should be just fine for you. This is agreat bike for off road and single trak. If you want to ride on the raod get a set of road wheels that are compaible with that frame from your LBS as well. that will speed you up dramaticllly on the road.
Grrrrr Trek does make SOME frames in the US, but only the very high end ones. Madone 5.5 and higher and Equinox but these are Carbon. My wife has a trek 7100 and is athena that frame is aluminum. the only issue are when i ride it. For some reason the comfort bike doesnt like it when i bunney hop potholes..
